I've seen plenty of illusionists use junk ... they don't take care of their props. I can't tell you how many times I've seen performers with props that look like they picked them out of the trash.
Speaking of trash .. there was a performer named "Steve Trash" that did an act about recycling. I believe he's still performing .. just with a "green" theme throughout his act. Steve |

JA,
I think David Copperfield did something like this on his China special. Also, in one of his specials he made a 'clubhouse' out of trash that was in the scene. Sincerely, David

Going back to what Steve said, this past summer Steve Trash came to the Iowa State Fair and put on amazing show with his illusions that look like trash. He puts on a great show and does have a green theme through out his act.

I'm working on building a show that I was commissioned to put together as we speak. Our general rule is Build It, Paint It and then distress and spritz it to make it look like crap. For example, we use a couple packing crates for tables. They've been painted to look dirty and worn.
Nicolas Night is a great example, his stuff is always nicely broken down looking.

I get the idea you mean that the set for the show is a junque yard -- and the illusions come from or are assembled from the pile of junk?
Sort of a mad recycler idea?
