Without getting into the intricacies of the difference between your definitions of trance and hypnosis (see Bobsers thread "Difference between Hypnosis and Trance")
I have read (a little) about supposed "levels of trance/hypnosis". Some quote a massive list of levels, including the various phenomena which "define" the level that has been attained. * What are the opinions of the users here? * Do you believe in a scale type system? * When someone is hypnotised is that it, are they under and all this talk of levels is nonsense? * If you DON´T subscribe to the idea of "levels" - then what is your opinion on the supposition that "deepening" or "taking the subject in and out various times in rather rapid succession" seems to improve the responsiveness of the subject? I already have my own general ideas on these topics, but I´m curious to know if your ideas will change mine
If you never fail, you're not trying hard enough.

For therapy there is no need for levels. For stage type work all ou need to know is
pre-induction light trance Wakened trance Pre induction is everything from the pretalk, hand clasp to "induction" on stage. Light trance is the early acceptance of light suggestions hot cold, laughing, crying etc with eyes closed. Wakened trance is when some one appears to be normally awake eyes open and will accept more complicated suggestions. You have to move through in the above order. |
