Anyone know when the first use of a Sanada type gimmick was recorded and where. Obviously I'm researching this on my own but if someone can point in a direction or two it would be greatly appreciated.

DeLand had a cardboard gimmick that covered the entire hand. You might have to look in turn of the century publications to find it.
AFAIK, the real Sanada gimmick came out in the late 1980's as a commercial item. It was sold in Europe before it came over to the States.

Somehow I knew that the person who came up with it would be you, Bill! Sometimes I wonder why I even waste my time and money using "Ask Alexander" rather than going right to you.
Go over to "Magicians of Old." I may have one that could give even you pause (for a few seconds anyway). And, oh yes, of course--thanks as always for the benefit of your bountiful knowledge. gary |

You are welcome.
BTW, Jim Steinmeyer may have some info on this kind of thing.

Speaking of old magicians, Happy Birthday Bill. But remember I'm just a year behind you to the day.
