Hi all:
After much use, my fire wallet finally fell apart. Specifically, the little piece of fabric that holds the lighter fluid (the wick, or whatever you call it) fell out. It had been glued to a metal plate in the wallet, and the glue finally gave way. I'm wondering what kind of glue (or whatever substance it was) is used to hold the wick to the metal. It has to be a heat / flame resistant glue that will fix the wick to the metal plate. I'd much rather re-attach the wick than have to buy a new wallet. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks! |

Have you tried a Hot Gluestick Gun? I believe that will work. The flame from the wallet doesn't burn long enough to remelt the glue. If it does, you're holding the wallet open too long.

Thanks Ron - I don't think that's what it originally was glued with, but I can give it a try.

The wallet I have has the lighter glued in with the hot glue. Of course I can't see what's behind the asbestos.

Use DAP "nonflammable" Contact Cement. You should be able to find it at Lowe's or most any home store.
