And I'm not even that good at it imho...
But a lot of Women just can't hold back the tears when you talk about their relationships and dreams... I'm sure you guys who have done this for long have some stories... Care to share?

I usually keep half a raw onion in a hanky for such things...
There is a moral responsibility (in my opinion) for every word that comes out of your mouth...even more so when using certain techniques, CR being one of them... To be honest, I'm not a fan of CR...

You do, I agree...
Keeping the CR Positive has always been a big thing for me. They were tears of joy btw...

I think this is why so many of the top professionals in mentalism stress the need to be careful in what you say and advise and to be sure you are only doing it for entertainment purposes.
There are others out there that take advantage of these emotional situations. Jim |

On that I agree...
I can see how it can be misused. (and IS being misused...)

I've never moved people to tears with my cold reading. Does that make me a good or a bad reader?

People break into tears because they have unfinished emotional business. You are tapping into gestalts of emotion.
It's not that difficult to do. Some people will be more vulnerable than others. That's what psychics prey on. |

Now turn your cold readding into "active discussion" and see how your HUMANE qualities can bring emotions.
see how YOU ( as opposed to cold reading) can really find out what to say in order to bring about those same emotions. those techniques ( CR, Tarot, palm,pendulum,...) are merely the training tools to achieve the final result of YOU becoming the medium, and I mean medium as in the "mean" the "in between" , you between someone and its emotions. ( where it originally got its name from) : you, the facilitator of those emotions. you, the guide as you guide them through the maze of their own emotions. NOT the solution finder, NOT the guru, but the guide. as long as one doesn't claim to offer solution but only facilitation or guiding and let the person finds his/her own solutions, you are in the clear when it comes to ethics. read enriquez for more. simply brilliant. brillint, brilliant..... once more???? brilliant. and as a final note, I hope you realise that its not the CR that made them release these emotions, but you did. you offered them a space and a time to do it. it comes with a lot of responsability. don't ever break that as THAT would be unethical. but that's for you to adress. edit: I reread myself and realise I could have come across as patronising, it is not my intention, I'm glad for you and was merely sharing the principles in which I believe. I am no expert, enrique is. I hope you take it as such. |

I see what you mean. For me, active listening is only one aspect of active discussing, togther with active talking.
now I agree with you that in the act of discussion, listening should account for more than the talking. its just semantics. |

I ended my reading career right there and then. Who wants to be associated with lunatics like that? And that wasn't an isolated reading. To make matters worse the "clients" these Fayre's attracted couldn't afford what they were charging. A lot of them needed real therapy. |

I think its a shame that you left Mindpunisher.
The only thing you achieved by leaving is to increase the amount of "fraud" ratio. There will always be some arses. and this is the best reason for you to stick and show that it can be done other way. A clean way. You leaving was a loss for someone, somewhere, sometime. |

Thanks everyone.
I agree, it is a huge responsibility to guide people in making decisions. I won't misuse it.

I am a psychologyst and hypnotherapist and I think this is
awfull and disgusting but then again this thread isn't impressive coming for a guy that always supports psychic dumbness and hates exposure no need for making a client cry, why is that? just to tell your friends? just to post it here? how did you help them? oh sorry.. of course.. you don't have a master nor a degree, you do not think there is a responsability do you? you just believe is entertainment.. just like doing a card trick.. incredible.. you just bought some pdfs and some dvds and you think you get to do that... to close this rant.. nothing better than Julian Bev Moore ¨I've never moved people to tears with my cold reading. Does that make me a good or a bad reader?¨ this is comming from a guy that is a master in the art of cold reading so there is no need in doing that.. there is really no need I used to do a death or alive test until I realize most of the people kept thinking in the dead person.. there is really no need to shake up your spectators like that. you should never guide people in making any decision.. who the hell are you? just a guy that can do some tricks that's it.. stop it!!! you are not better than any other clown or juggler helping a guy making decisions.. STOP IT !!! |
