As far as the email, I just figured out how to beat the system. I've got it whipped!

You have to be smarter than them!

Gmail doesn't actually insert links.

They just use matches on words in the mail to bring up related ads on the right side.

Gmail calls this "AdWords" if you want to read more about it.

It was pretty simple really. I just take the e-mail after I compose it then send it to my self. When I open it it shows the highlighted items. Then take a period and stick it into the middle of the hyperlinked phrases, minimize the font size on that period to the tiniest size possible, (so it's barely perceptible to the eye)

Then when I send it off to her, their program doesn't recognize the word anymore because the period makes it an entirely different word or phrase. (At least as far as Yahoo sofwtare is concerned.)

The period is still there, but its so small as to be unobtrusive. Result? A letter that looks normal with NO brightly blinking strange colored words staring you in the face saying "Click me!!"

Simple, really.

Doug, does your ISP not provide you with an email account as part of the service?

I have never had gmail add a link to my mail. Incoming or outgoing.

If I type "get@you" (For whatever reason I might do such a thing) it makes it a link get@you but the link leads nowhere. It's that silly @.

My wife uses netscape, I've never seen such a thing. I have a trash account with MSN, also never experienced that. I send a bunch of stuff back and forth, so I would imagine I would have seen this.

If this is a common thing with these providers... I must be doing something right.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Perhaps I missed it, but what email service are you using / how do you send your email? Gmail? Yahoo? Outlook? Something else?

How were you able to sign up here at the Magic Café? I didn't think they accepted any of those free email services.
