I got Daryl enc set and I don't recall anything on it on the subject apart from a 5 second show what a top palm is (2 handed).
I got Mcbriudge set and nothing on one hand palm. I pratice mainly from the Bill Malone dvd where he does his ACR..... I still feel my one hand palm can be better, as I get it you can hear it flick on the thumb as it slides past it via the little finger. I also cant get it to grip by the little finger, I get a more relaxed look by haveing it slow in phlanxes of my middle and forth finger. Are there any learning sources you can suggest for the one hand plam, wannt make it beter. |

Hi WazMeister,
You might want to check out Steven Youell's reasoning behind the weakness of the one hand top palm. He talks about this on his new Palming DVD and his reasoning is quite well considered. That being said, Frank Garcia has some cool tips on this in The Close Up Magic of Frank Garcia. This sleight has always given me problems; I just cannot seem to hit it with any consistency. The usual problems I run into are pretty common: The card gets stuck There is a tell-tale click It angles out too far. Using Garcia's approach has helped a bit though. If you don't have the Garcia books, PM me. I know these are hard to find. Ahimsa, Vlad PS: I have found it easier and more consistent to do it from a table as I am retrieving the deck, but, already HOLDING the deck is a DISASTER |

I would love to be able to do the one-hand top palm. It doesn't seem to work for me. I can do it once out of 100 times or so. It always kicks out to the side.
I got Jay Sankey's "Extremely Ambitious" and he basically says it's a knack and if it kicks out to the side, "keep practicing". :-/

Oz Pearlman has a very good tutorial on it on his "Born to Perform" DVD. This is where I learned it. It really is a "knack" thing and once you get it it becomes very easy. Hint...pull up on the same side of the deck that you are pushing on with your pinkie. Don't let the pressure from your pinkie push the deck down. This helped me a lot. Hope this helps...

I will do that Mr. Lorayne. This sleight has vexed me to no end, especially OFF the table.

Alex Linian has a thorough tutorial over at Vanishing Inc:
https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic-......op-palm/ He goes through a few applications for the palm including a cool looking colour change. He also includes a method for cleaning up which is pretty interesting. Worth a look! Jon |
