Go with the boon writer and you can get this in any magic shop.

Read past threads on this topic. My recommendation is for Guy Bavli's Super Pro Writer. I like it better than any boon I've ever tried but to each their own.

Where are you finding a boon writer? None of the dealers I have talked to can get one. They can only get a swami.

that magic is an art, and an art worth your learning. The question is rather, whether you be capable of learning it? Magic is somewhat like poetry, men are to be born so: I mean, with inclinations to it, though both may be heightened by discourse and prac

If I may, you owe it to yourself to check out Gregory Edmonds fabulous RTW (Retractable Thumb Writer). It's the only writer that I know of that you can literally just throw in your pocket and it will always be ready. It's easy to put on, virtually invisible, and the lead cannot break. The thing is practically indestructable. You never have to replace it and the lead is very easy to replace once it runs out. It is available in both TT and finger writer models, both pencil lead and Listo lead.
As you can tell I love the thing. I loved it so much I bought the rights to it! If you are interested in more info drop me a note off list at MarkyApril@aol.com and I'll send you all the scoop. I also normally carry the very best boon-type writer made anywhere for my customers. It's extremely popular and, as such is very hard to keep in stock. I just did a quick check and I'm completely out, but I will be getting more in shortly. Again, drop me a note off list if I can be of some service. Mark Strivings

Greetings, one and all.
Sometimes, when I know what something is (like a nail-writer) I let my creativity solve the problem for me. When you look at the components that make up a nail-writer it's easy to figure out how to make one, and even possibly better than a commercially manufactured model.I am not suggesting that we pirate things, but a nail-writer is such an old and disposable thing... On a side note, (to Mr. Strivings) I use your "Sort of Numerology" effect in everyday life on almost daily basis and I think it's FABULOUS! Those that are interested contact the above submissions author for "Mobile Mentalism". Peace to all. |

While I generally agree with much of what Mark Strivings says, on this issue I respectfully disagree. I have the RTWs, both Listo and lead. I admit that I do not own the finger writer model so I can't say anything in that regard.
The RTWs are good NWs, no disagreement there. And because of the retractable feature, your lead is protected. I still recommend, hands down, the Koontz's SuperWriter, carried by Guy Bavli on his website. Though not retractable the lead is positioned so cleverly, and is so thick, that I have never, ever had it break on me despite literally hundreds of hours spent in my pocket. Also, the thickness of the lead conveys other advatadges, including visibility of the subsequent writing and more closely matching the lead of common everyday pencils than does the lead of the RTW. It is even easier to replace than the lead of the RTW, in my opinion, and Listo could easily be used instead. Regarding the positioning of the lead, and this is important, it allows you to write with less movement than any other writer I have ever tried. As I posted previously, I once took out all of my many writers and had someone watch as I used each. The person who helped me said that with the SuperWriter, their wasn't ANY visible movement. Now with a NW your presentation should cover the risk of someone observing any movement in the first place, but why take any chances. Consider the added confidence this gives you when you are performing, especially should some one be burning your hands. Two last points, because I know I tend to go on, especially when I feel strongly about something, which I obviously do regarding the SuperWriter. The material the SuperWriter is made of is extremely durable and flexible so it feels and fits better on the thumb than the hard plastic used in the RTWs and other TT designed NWs. It is shorter than a normal TT and this fact and the lead placement is what accounts for the lack of visible movement. At first I thought this might be just a happy coincidence re: the shape of my thumb and the make of the SuperWriter but I have tested it on others who have very different sized and shaped thumbs and the consensus is that it is the SuperPro, not my thumb, that makes this work so elegantly. Enuf said. Bill I would be remiss in not adding that I agree with J. Warrens about Sort of Numerology. A true impromptu, no prop stunner. And Mark is humble enough to include an audio tape with Mobile Mentalism that not only allows you to hear various permutations in action but includes the ones that didn't work out the best. This is a refreshing change from most others who would edit out such things and only allow you to hear/see rare perfect hits. Well done Mr. Strivings. |

Question for those who own the Kuntz/Koontz NW: Is the positioning of the lead in the TT a problem for left-handed mentalists?
Thanks. |

The problem with swamis is you can loose them. If you spent 20 bucks on one then its a big problem. Just make your own. Use some double sided tape, some pencil lead and a button.Total cost less than 1 dollar.

I'm fond of the C type you get about 5 in a pack I think, their the type Mr osterlind uses, I thought I'd give them a try and was very impressed. I also have made my own which are quite good however I find the c type is a very secure fit.
