This was posted in another section with little response. Has anyone purchased this and able to do a review? Are there better, more visual ways to accomplish this effect? thanks, Mike

Your other post is in the right section: Nothing Up My Sleeve. But it appears that it might have been moved there from a card forum (based on MB's post).
I would think that if anyone knew they would reply in that forum, but you never know. Personally I don’t know the routine. Hang in there; if anyone does have an answer you'll get it in one of these forums. Jim |

Haven't purchased this, but the ad does state that you are supplied with a gimmick. There have been two different gimmicks sold in the past that accomplished a vanish that looked a lot like this one. In both cases, the effect was better viewed from directly in front, and suffered significantly (although not exactly exposed) from the side.
Not sure what you mean by a "more visual" version. You mean, you'd like to see the coin disappear? Or are you referring to the initial conditions?

This looks good, and I'm almost about to pull the trigger. But any reviews from ANYBODY first??? Curtis, what are the two gimmicks sold in the past? I'd be curious to learn from you about those and get your thoughts on those, as well. I'm looking to do exactly what I see in the video for VANISHED. Nothing fancy, just exactly the way he did it. Any feedback?

Again, I haven't purchased this and probably won't but as said here, it works via a gimmick which means anyone can do it pretty much just as shown. Seems some are perhaps looking for a quick fix here on this but there are many ways to vanish a coin with or without a gimmick. This one, to be honest, looks quite contrived and deliberate but then again often times so does the old classic, Fickle Nickle and even I got one of those around here somewhere.
Anyway $25 bucks seems like a bit for this but Al seems like a nice enough fella and your curiosity is clearly on the brink. Just check it out for yourself. Either way, good or bad, you will indeed learn something from the experience guaranteed.

I am interested in this partly because I don't know of any other gimmick that allows one to exactly replicate this effect. I am new to coin magic so if I am wrong, please let me know which gimmicks PR other marketed effects allow one to perform what is exactly on this vanished demo. Thanks!

Not really a routine, but it looked pretty magical to me. I like that it can be done with short sleeves. I spend Winters in Arizona, and seldom wear a coat.

I just watched the video and I'm not quite certain what gimmick he is using. Notice that both times he vanished very tiny coins. Is the gimmick limited to that size coin? I think it must be.
Thanks! Jim |

I think it is, Jim. What I like is, it's ordinary pocket coins, stuff you carry all the time. I think I know what is happening, after watching it a dozen times, but the first time I saw it, it fooled the heck out of me! I LOVE it when I'm fooled, because that's rare.
True, Sammy, I also don't wear long sleeves and a coat much (that may change shortly...gettin' cool here in Maine). A routine could easily be built around that. That would be the end of the routine, IMO. It's the ultimate climax! And, it's REPEATED! Nice idea! Doug |

I think the vanishi looks not bad, but it looks bad when it is repeated too many times. It certainly doesn't worth $25 in my opinion.

Wow!!! I saw this at a magic convention over 20 years ago! (this effect that is) I'm 99% sure I know the method, and if I'm right, it CAN be done with larger coins, all the way up to Eisenhower dollars (although that would be a bit pricey). It works best from the front, but it CAN work at side angles with some mis-dir. Also, with alittle practice, you can do a coin-transpo which is so clean it's scary! I did quarter-to-dime. Finally, if you want to acheive MAXimum impact with this thing, break out the sharpie! Hand the spec a sharpie, bring out the coin, and have the spec initial the coin in your hand. The coin vanishes (just like in the vid) and , after letting the spec examine your hands with a magnifying glass if they want, you reach into your pocket and produce the singed coin! (can't give it away as a souvenier though). This method is expensive and time-consuming to do, so you'd save it for when you really need to pull off a miracle. Overall a VERY easy, visual and versatile effect!

When you say the method is expensive and time-consuming to do, do you mean there are other additinal costs on top of the $25 for the effect? If so, what is the additional cost to construct the gimmick? Also, how much time does it take to set up, since you indicate that it is very time-consuming?

No other costs. No set up time. THanks for the posts.

Is this similiar to "Revolution" which was released by Ellusionist about 5 or 6 years ago? Probably not exactly the same, because no gimmick was required for "Revolution", but it looks like a similiar method. If it is, I like this version better.

In Revolution, does the coin end up in the performer's pocket?

Okay waittaminnut.....when I said 'expensive' I was talking about the particular method of the spec initialing the coin in your hand...not the effect in general. What you see in the vid demo is totally free and instant re-set. No hassle at all. Also, (no offense to the guy in the vid demo) I'd really say the demo was lowballing this performance-wise. THere's all SORTS of cute & cool stuff you can do with this if you make it part of a larger coin routine:
MIser's dream>the cleanest drop ever Klinko glass>people will go insane trying to figure it out The slyvester pitch>toss this into the routine and it will have specs going in circles Scotch n'Soda>Armed with this, you can do a version of S&S where you put the coins into each of the spec's hands to begin with (no seperating behind the back). Very useful for sticking it to the wiseguy who says he knows the trick to S&S!

Thank you, Mighty Fool! I see the value here. As soon as I come up with $25 (a fortune to me right now), I'm IN!
