Hi All,
Do you know of any patter that likens a two-piece wand to a pool cue? "Cueing up my magic," so to speak, with the requisite pool cue hand motion? Or perhaps mimicking the ritual of "chalking up the cue"? With thanks,

Paul Harris might have some ideas from the Screwed Deck. I remember seeing it demonstrated on one of the Stars of Magic videos years ago.

Perhaps we could pool our ideas.
There will have to be an orderly queue though, we don't want to end up in each others pockets. First we can table our ideas so that we don't get stuck behind the 8 ball. So, lets rack up our thoughts.

Really good response, Tom. I like two-piece wands. I'm not really enamoured of the "Pool Table Pocket Chop Cup" that one fellow has manufactured. I won't go into the reasons for it, but the cup just doesn't look like the pocket of a pool table, for starters. However, that doesn't mean that you couldn't use some other chop cup, a leather one, for example, in place of the one that comes with the set. Ambitious card has some good ones. You can get small rubber pool balls from various on-line sources. They could be modified if need be. Or not.

The ones I am referring to are about 1 inch in diameter.
I forgot to include the line I would use, though. I bring out the cue in a leather case. As I put the wand together, I would say, "Did you ever shoot pool with someone who brought their cue in a case like this? (pause) Did you win? I didn't think so. People who carry their cues in cases like this are either hustlers, professional pool players or marks."

I would probably use a line like Vernon's "This is the oldest swindle in the world." The use of the words "hustler" and "mark" have set the stage for this.
Or you could say something like -- "If you don't want the inconvenience of having to depend on someone else's equipment, you can bring a portable pool table."
