Mother's side: German cobbler, railroad brakeman and farmers.
Father's side: One was a Welsh coal miner and I have no idea about the others.

My mothers father was a fisherman in Scicca Sicily.
My fathers father was a sheppard in Scicca Sicily. They both moved here when they were in their teens My parents were both born in suburban Philadelphia, and they met at a roller skating rink. My father was quite a skater, and was very popular with the ladies. My mother wasn't allowed out of her fathers house at night until she was 25 years old. She was very shy, and he was very agressive. Their marrage lasted 61 years.

My father was a Scot. The racing judge is the Scot side of the family. My mother was English.
I once said to a pal of mine “My Great Grandfather was a Judge.” and he replied, “Not a very good one.”

My fathers father was an art and set director with MGM (and others I believe) including movies like "Sining in the Rain". He was also drinkin buds with Walt Disney and was the designer of Main Street at Disneyland!
My maternal grandfather did everything from run numbers in NY as a lad to selling insurance and other products later to support his family then spent the last several years of his life rehabbing old Victorian houses and buying, refinishing and selling early American antiques! My dads dad passed when I was young so I didn't know him well but my moms father was a huge influence in my life and passed when I was in my early 20's. |

My Granddad was a taylor, my great Granddadad worked at a large jewelry store as a master watchmaker. In those days to be certified as a master watchmaker, one had to be able to make all the parts of the watch except the mainspring.

Lobo is correct. Based on census reports on my dads side the other great grandfather was a bakers assistant in NYC (my dads family were all in NYC until me) while on my mothers side the other grandfather was an indian and they didn't bother with keeping track of what he did or didn't do. My mothers mother also has no records other than when she passed away.
Grandparents one was an engineer at Edison Electric in New York after a stint in the merchant marines while on the mammy's side he worked or owned a store until losing in in the depression then became a custodian at the highschool. He was also the assistant coach on the ball team and coached Mickey Mantle (Commerce Oklahoma) at highschool. My aunts first experience with the, uh, bat was with Mickey at around age 13. Mickeys bat was known all over town. By coincidence my mothers best friends (well former as my mother is no longer living) son was the director of the school district over Commerce and the principle of Commerce Elementary is a member here and my cousins kid was a bad influence on his daughter, small world huh? |

The only one I knew told me that his father was a carpenter back in Denmark, but made no mention of his father-in-law. Both he and my grandmother were from Denmark, but unfortunately there are only a few Danish surnames. There are just too many Jensens for me to find out much about my maternal grandmother's family. I knew from a number of sources that my paternal grandfather grew up on a farm in Malagash County, Nova Scotia. A bit of web searching indicated that his father emigrated from Scotland. His wife (my grandmother) was from Boston; but again I know nothing about her family. Thanks for asking. John
