Hey! I know Lancaster! Nice....that does explain why one would travel cross country for a lil' CSU. My niece is at Monterey, starting her second year, that is a lil' school, so is, dang, the one where they grow all the pot. Humbolt.

Does anyone here do shows for the CSUF Resident Student Association?

Nope, but my first professional standup comedy gig was at the Pub at CSUF. I was reasonably amazing, myself.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

There's also a club in Hollywood - about 40 miles, so, three hours by freeway - from CSUF that claims to have magicians occasionally. The name escapes me . . . .

Aladdin Books is still in business. You just have to call to make sure someone is there before going by...

There is also a pretty good magic shop in Anaheim, not too far from Fullerton and Disneyland.

I'm pretty sure you're talking about Best Magic, on Magnolia. Glad to hear about Aladdin; I had heard he took it online only.

Nope.

Dave Thorsen shut it down a few years ago so he could spend more time with his family.

When I was first getting back into magic my wife went to Aladdin Books to get me a Christmas present. She told the gentleman that she wanted a book or video on sleight-of-hand magic suitable for a beginner.

He sold her James Lewis' Million Dollar My$terie$.

I've learned quite a lot from that video, though I still don't do the Visible Coins Through the Glass Table.

The location of Aladdin is not "intuitively obvious to the most casual observer", so ask for directions...

It's in a row of offices, perpendicular to the main street, so if you don't know what you're looking for, you can pass it repeatedly (as we did...)

Once you find it, though... NIRVANA!!!

My balloon shop in Santa Clara I went to was hidden. You would never find it if you were not looking for the street numbers.
