This is an example of the difference between a country that has safety requirements because they actually care about their people (same as the US, Canada, and most Western countries) vs those that really don't care except to get the ore out.

I'm thinking this is a good set up for a movie. Miners trapped deep below ground, for 3+ months. It could work as a rescue drama, or as a horror. Nor would it surprise me if this has already been done.
