Hey guy's and gal's Tyler here again
Was wondering. I want to start making may stage show more pretty buy adding professionally made illusions.Right now all mine are well built to work lol. all I do is stare at an effect I like on youtube for hours and try and find out a way to make it work and then design and build it. Still don't know if I can get in trouble for this but its worked for 4 years. Now on to the questions. Right now I have to Sub trunks one I like to call the coffin because it was the first one I build and its a big long 6 foot box. Second one is your normal crate looking one. Second one I have is appearing assistant.shadow box/what goes bump in the night box. Third one I have is just a really small T on a platform that I make two girls appear from it. Now the audience loves the presentation and stories and comedy I put behind it. But when it comes to my show I'm a perfectionist and I like things looking pretty. So heres the question. Im roughly making 300 dollars a week with a 500 dollar show that I get once or twice a month. What would be the cheapest but yet most high impact illusion I could get if I say saved up till December giving me about roughly 3700 dollars. SOOO... What Kind of illusion would you suggest and why witch builder new used excreta??? Note: I already have Losanders table Thanks for all suggestions Tyler Biloski |

If I were you I'd look for a sword type box or a suspension/levitation.

Tyler, your question is so general, that it is hard to make an offering. You can't get much for 3700.00. You might be able to get a good Zig Zag with that kind of money and enough left over to get Abbott's Sword Basket illusion.
As we do not know your taste, it would be probably better if you do some searching the Illusion builders sites and see what is available and to your liking. Most of the premium box illusions run above the $5000.00 price range. Or you can search the used magic illusion sites if you like to touch up your props a little. You may also might like to read many of the post on this thread, you will gain a good sense of illusions and price range. |

My show many consist of levitations fast appearances and then things like disappearing and re appearing in the audience things like this along with shadow boxes. I like dramatic illusions that I can put high impact choreographically and music with them. Hopfully that helps a little feel free to ask more questions I will answer |

Do you know any of the names of your illusions? That match with commercial illusions available on the market.
Can we see a video of your weekly shows? |

Peter Gossamer used to make a really nice broom suspension H, but to my knowledge, you need to supply the broom/base yourself. I'm pretty sure that would fit well into your budget and is a pretty nice effect.

You might want to consider a Lester Lake Head chopper (Wellington or Owens).
They are a great character piece and an opportunity to connect with the audience. It doesn't require assistants and can be done surrounded. It's easy to transport and you can do it anywhere, anytime and play it BIG for a solid six minutes. While there are lot's of Lester choppers, the Wellington or Owens look and SOUND huge when the blade slams home. |
