America picked a kite flyer and two sisters that are not great singers over Antonio Restivo!! What!!
Thoughts? Is America voting for their disabilities vs. their talent? |

I'm with you Daniel and I believe the judges were just as shocked. He would have went through against any of those two.

Posted: Aug 25, 2010 10:28pm Well...others tipped the rest of the show tonight that mattered, guess I won't have to watch that tripe. |

It's not about performance there...
It's about emotion. Guess who's really laughing all the way to the bank?

I think the main reason may have been his finish. He just clomped down the steps, and you could see on the judges faces disappointment.
He should have run, jumped or did a surprising appearance of some kind. The ending did sort of fall flat. Mabe even an exchange with one of the other assistants. You can have all the fire in the world, but you still need energy in your performances. Supposedly, it was not up to the judgers, but the viewers. |

Someone said it is about emotion...
actually it is about ticket sales for the vegas show and the touring show.

If you take away the fire, didn't he just get in a box?
he should have come down upside down in a different coffin or something from the roof. Just went in a box, then came down stairs, people were really voting for fire in that case. Just my opinion.

He should have done an upside down hanging straitjacket escape then lowered himself into a Sub Trunk and appear behind a wall of flames...
Wait... That was done already.

Interestingly enough, I happened to be flipping through an old Genii (Oct 2006) and who was listed as performing at the Stratosphere - Antonio Restivo. The show was called Bite (Vampire Strip Review) where he was doing magic and fire manipulation. I don't know how long it played but I thought that was interesting as he is apparently no stranger to the Las Vegas stage.
I also agree with wmhegbli. The disappearance was flashy (albeit somewhat obvious) but the reappearance was ho-hum. The Michael Grasso reappearance of the assistant behind the judges is much more surprising and could have been the difference. I, too, was sorry to see him go as I would have liked to see more and see how next time he would have even more fire and maybe he would burn down the theater.

I watched his act expecting and hoping for it to have more of an impact. All of that fire was almost too much of a distraction and didn't really add much to the performance. All he did was walk into a box and walk out somewhere else.

If I was a casino owner and had a room to use, I would take Antonio, Archattack and maybe the mountain biker and put a show together.
