I started building my one man MA illusion today and should have some picture in a week or two. I am using a Zig Zag position of the person in the Modern Art with THIN table.

It'll be interesting to see how the finished Zig Zag pattern will look on an MA. Looking forward to it!

I don't want to come out and tell the dimensions I am using but if you take the plan and + or - this is what I am thinking of starting with.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/....../MYA.jpg The table has a depth of 3 1/2 inches and the sides are + one inch (but I am cutting the door as big as I can go). |

Small model to see how much room there is to work with in the illusion.

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......0683.jpg It look like the gap at it widest is 10 inches which should be enought (I THINK). |

I am marking out all the parts this week. As you can see this one has a thin table top. |

I caution you to re-think some of your dimensions. According to your sketch, you have a maximum 4 1/2" opening at the front. With a traditional 2" phantom, that gives about 6 1/2" at the back. Even if you expanded the phantom difference to 3 1/2" (which is too much to be deceptive), that's only 9" at the rear...minus the thickness of your material.
If you've ever been inside a Modern Art, you know that the center of that phantom is where you need the space. Thigh bones don't bend and knee joints don't go sideways. I strongly urge you to build a FULL size mockup out of cardboard and 2x4's to test these dimensions before you go too much further. Hate to see someone else repeat my mistakes... Dan Wolfe |

Dan THANKS for the heads Up, unfortunately all the dimension cuts are done all that is left is the slant, doors, under table, and head hole. this is a mockup just to get the dimensions nailed down and see if it will work. I will not be using a MA positin of the person inside, I will be using a Zig Zag position, you turn SIDEWAYS as the top is slid over you hop all you upper body onto the shelf so all that has to go through the gap is your legs (one stright down the other streched to the foot hole)(you will also need 2 gimmicks chest and legs). It may not work but only one way to tell. I was using a 2 inch cheat but I was making the table legs 1/2 inch thicker also.

Hi: I do think I am going to suck it up and buy a new board and cut the sides from 16 to 18 inches, as I had not took into account the slides and I am a big guy. I did not want to go to deep as I was using a Zig Zag position and had to reach the foot hole (but I do have to fit).

Front slants cut. For those of you looking yes that is a blade slot in the bottom box (AKA Zig Zag) I am not using the MA sword. |
