The best part of producing a live rose is that it looks so impossible. The rose looks so fragile. Even if someone thought you had it hidden up your sleeve or in your pants leg they would wonder how you managed to not crush it.
The beauty of a rose is that it is not all that fragile. If you know a simple bottle production (bottle stuck in belt) then you already know a rose production! Simply take a piece of cardboard (the stuff file folders are made of is OK), roll it into a tube, tape the tube so that it won’t unroll, slide a rose into the tube, and stick the tube in your belt (rose stem up), put on your jacket, and you are ready to produce the rose. That’s it! Keep it simple and direct! By the way, strip the thorns off the rose stem before you load it into your tube. That only takes a second and makes for a “safer” rose. Nothing kills the rose production effect like the woman sticking her finger as she takes the rose!

Kevin James' floating rose video is great but is something that should be given considerable practice before preforming and it sounds like you need something soon. the lit match to rose looks great and you can make your own with a real rose easily.Good Luck.

I second the flicking fingers DVD. Great production of a rose and awesome vanish of silk. Plus this has many other great effects and too boot, is funnier than hell.

The rose production that DC did works good and uses a real rose that you can cut or pull off all the thorns. You do not have to float the rose, you can just produce it

Just a thought here and it may hinder things. I got my girl a gold dipped rose and she loved it. These things look bloody great. If you could find a way to produce a rose(real or fake) and than transpose it to the gold dipped rose her jaw would drop.

Tony Clark performs a nice rose production from a flash and bright sparkle or fire. It surprised me first time I saw it.
It is his as far as I know, but I don't know if it's publishes anywhere. Good luck. |

This thread is so old, he might have planted one in the yard and watched it bloom.
Probably the best way to produce roses if you ask me.

Somewhere while surfing the web, I discovered at least two sites that listed free instructions for making a rose out of a paper napkin. I thought that I had saved these sites in my "Favorites" file, but apparently not.
Does any one else have a web site source for this info? In the meantime, I'll keep looking. Mike

Yeah, this thread's probably too late to post in now, but I have to agree, Kevin James' video rocks! I took the time to practice it, and it made for a very romantic effect. My girlfriend was over it, and still talks about the impression it made on her.
One thing, though. If you DO use a real rose at the end, Kevin James' tip (about wrapping fine wire around where the stem and flower meet, to strengthen it so it doesn't come apart) is invaluable! I like the idea of perfuming the flash paper, so it smells like a rose. Great stuff! Glad I found this thread (pun intended ) Doug |

Joseph Gabriel's Rose production in his manipulation act is the best. It is not available and probably very simple, but he is so good at it, it is still a mystery how and where it is produced from.
Now that is magic! |

Antonio Banderas produces a rose in Mask of Zorro. Check it out. Should be immediately obvious how to duplicate the effect, but simple is sometimes the best. I've used this before. (although you gotta trim the stem very short)
