I'll start:
1. Andy Griffith
2. The A-Team
3. Star Trek (original)
4. Miami Vice

Hmm...tricky

• Quantum Leap
• Doogie Howser MD
• Perfect Strangers
• Cheers

I just realized those are all 80s. Most 80s shows had great theme songs.

I've had the theme for the kid's show "Yo Gabba Gabba" running through my head for a month or so now. Though that's probably because it's my 18-month old son's favorite show, and he wants to watch it all the time.

Oh yeah, forgot about Fresh Prince. "Iiiiiiiiit was Philadelphia born and raised..."
Isn't it ironic that the 80's is known for bad music but had the best theme songs?

I loved the old Speed Racer cartoon as a kid… my kids are now watching the episodes on DVD, I find myself singing the theme song throughout the day.

Haven't we done this before? I think so.

Perfection: I Dream of Jeanie.

Virtually everything else here I would agree with.

How about Hawaii 5-0?

Here's the thread I was thinking of:

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=32

But mods, please don't delete this thread, because the question is actually different. It's about tune addiction.

German has a great expression for a tune that you just can't shake for a day or a few: an ear worm.

Which of these TV theme songs are ear worms?

Many, many, many. Some of these composers really knew what they were doing.

First one to pop into my head was I Dream of Jeannie.

There are many that I like a lot better (Peter Gunn, for instance) but I have to go with the instinct.

Maybe I'm still in love with Barbara Eden.

Here's a second vote for the Addams Family and Mr. Ed, and another vote for Gilligan's Island. (Useless Trivia: The Gilligan's Island Theme and most Emily Dickinson poems all use the same meter, so you can sing most Emily Dickinson poems to the t......s Island.)

What about the '60s Batman series with Adam West?

That's my cell phone ring tone. But that's because it's the very first TV theme song I can remember. It still gives me goosebumps of nostalgia.

The Rockford Files.
Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.

Balducci, nice entry! That was indeed an ear worm. Good show, too.

One common factor, is that Mike Post composed a great many of the theme songs people have listed above:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006236/

Another great theme song that came to mind just now, is that of Mission Impossible (by Lalo Schifrin).

Mission Impossible is also a fascinating piece of music by any standards. It's not just an ear worm, it is also an interesting composition with regard to rhythm. Darned hard to play for any group. Impossible on the banjo. (Well, Bela Fleck might be able to do something with it. But he's Bela Fleck.)
