All the Non-Conformists! This is a very, very good packet trick and is examinable! You just need four aces, two with blue backs and two with red backs! Learn this - all you use is an Elmsley Count! I do this all the time!

Paul Gordon`s Corner of Picadilly is always in my breast pocket and is instantly reset. A great killer routine.

Ejohn,

Thank you for the reference. I just read through this and I love it! (Especially the "repeat" - pretty cheeky)

Twisting The Aces can be reset very quickly as can Nick Trost's Bigfoot (though the instructions with the effect don't tell you how, it's in Subtle Card Creations Vol.1)

Uni-flection is a great packet trick that's set up easliy infront of the spectators and the cards come right out of the deck. Basically four of a kind pulled out of the deck change into four duplicates of the 1st spectator's selection, then instantly change into four duplicates of the 2nd spectators selection, then finish by showing all four cards as four jokers. It's found in The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings.

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable.

John,

Where might I find this effect?

I regularly perform 2 "packet" type tricks where the cards are taken from an ordinary (could be borrowed) deck.

1. Walt Maddisons - Masquerade (from his Spaka-Trix book)
2. David Britlands - Jackrobatics

I suspect that they are now out of print - but well worth finding, someone must have a copy.

I wouldn't classify "Reswindled" as instantly repeatable, but any version of "Reset" would be.

How about Skinners 3 card Monte this would work here.

Honestly.. James Swain's Capitulating Cards is, IMHO of course, the BEST packet trick ever created. It is based on All the nonconformists. Look is up as it is examinable and instant reset.

I assume by "repeatable" you mean for a different spectator/group of spectators.

If so, Color Monte ends up exactly as it begins.

I forgot to mention the absolutely brilliant "HOMING CARD" ala Kaps....but this effect is best suited to cabaret so an instant re-set is not important.
But it is still one of my favourite "un gimmicked" packet tricks from any deck.

I guess Doc Daley's fits those criteria.

Also looked at MacDonald's aces, not sure if that's instantly reset.

I wouldn't class MacDonald Aces as instantly reset, but the Daley effect certainly is.

If you use Charlie Millers stratagem of putting the cards in four piles after each vanisn (leaving the gaffs in a pile of their own)the trick is resettable if you just collect the piles in the order required for the version you perform. Ok the aces must be inserted in the deck too, but that takes but an instant.

I first heard about this on one of the Commercial Classics with Johnny Thompson

Magical dudes and dudettes,

Though it's not a packet trick--as all of you know (and probably of of you know the trick)--it does meet the qualification for instant reset posed by this thread (and it is a knockout effect). I'm referring to the Invisible Deck. Once the card is revealed, leave it face down and return the deck to the card case ala the instructions. You're ready to go.

Practically any packet trick that is done with ordinary cards (i.e., ungimmicked in any way) is usually quickly reset. Twisting the aces, exchanging two cards for two cards (ala Allen's Double Back but with regular cards), or the Cros Twist (on one of Paul Harris's earlier books) are tricks that would work. I've found Wild Card to be an easy reset, done right under the spectators' noses. Once the cards are changed, at least with my walk-around routine, I just have to secretly reverse the four top cards and put the packet back in a card wallet. Nobody has ever caught me doing it (to my knowledge).

Mick Ayers had a great packet trick called Magic Marked Cards that has six stunning changes and instantly resets at the end. Great effect for a strolling magician.

Adding yet again...

I am surprised no one mention Daryl's Presto Printo...

You are clean and when you gather the cards, you are good to go again!!

This n' That; however, though the finisher to the trick reveals all three cards, but the effect can be repeated instantly.
