Robert Harbin's "Assistant's Revenge" is an illusion predicated on the idea that the poor assistant, who is always being cut in half, chopped up, sliced and diced deserves to get some revenge on the "mean old illusionist."

Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki, who at age 15 wants to be an Escape Artist when he grows up, has figured out that it is the Escape Artist who is always being tied up, chained, manacled, and imprisoned by his assistant, and has worked out a new escape to "get even." He calls it the Stepladder Revenge because it uses an ordinary aluminum (lightweight) step-ladder and some ropes and a curtain, and, of course, an assistant.

It's on my site in Qua-Fiki's Corner in his newest book "Escapes For Teens" (based on his theory that Escape is a young person's game). While it appears to the audience that it is an "impossible" escape, the "substitution trunk" type ending classifies it more as an Illusion performed with ordinary, low cost (and fully examinable) objects.

Keep an eye on this Wiz Kid!
