Yes. The peas included are designed to be used for the reasons Steve explained. I Personally never use (or even carry) the hard "non working" peas. Both routines taught are demonstration routines, so I always just do my routine and put the shells away. The surface of the table I use in the video is black velvet which is stretched over a half inch thick sheet of foam rubber. I show the material used in the bonus section of the disk. A magicians close-up mat is a nice surface to work on too and will also work well for the Endless Chain. It's possible to work on a hard surface but it's much more difficult and I don't recommend you learn it that way if you don't have to, especially if you're new to the shell game. If you go through the regimen the way Bob recommends, before you know it, you'll be addicted to doing the "One Minute Workout" and you'll be rocking the shells like you won't believe before you know it!
