Does anyone know who still sells the 5-6 color cards used in Corinda's 13 Steps?

Thanks in advance.

The last dealer I saw who had these was Chazpro - http://www.chazpro.com, however I don't see it on his site now. It may be worth a call to double check.

These aren't that difficult to make and Osterlind explains how on the 13 Steps DVDs. I made my own set and they work great.

Well, I purchased heavyweight construction paper at the store. Nice colors and all but this will not work. Mentalist Sam, I am not able to PM you.
If you or anyone knows the brand of paper I need, please advise. Thank you.

Why are the papers you bought not working?
My mind reading routines: http://www.basjongenelen.nl/goocheltrucs/. Scroll a bit down to the English routines.

We are discussing the Fillman principle here, are we not?

Cheers.

If so then I believe it works best with card and not paper. I bought some plain ones from Chazpro and they are card.
You might say reality is the result of complex negotiations between the observer and the observed. But that is simply a point of view.

Many Thanks

Yes, it's the Fillman principle. I used to go through the trouble of making them, but it's a lot easier and less time consuming just to buy them. If you want to do the effect as Osterlind did, simply stick a colored sticker to the cards. I buy the blank ones. I won't mention the commercial name here on the open forum, but if you want to know more, PM me. They're worth the price and come with several routines.

You need to buy poster board, that's what Osterlind used on the 13 Steps DVDs. If I remember correctly, I bought a multi-colored pack at Walgreens.

I pm'd you with more exact details about making these.

I'm curious too. After watching the Osterlind DVDs I went out and bought colored poster boards. It's difficult (barely perceptible) to figure it out by themselves. Once I put them in envelopes I was completely lost. It may be the envelopes are too thick themselves. I didn't know if I should 'make my own' cards like Osterlind describes how some people do, but start with the poster boards like Osterlind describes and then add the extra materials to the outside (I'm trying not to give away the 'secret' here). I have had good success with the CMR that Osterlind shows with it - but if anyone has helpful hints on how to make Sujan Location work, I'm VERY interested.

I didn't have the same experience as Darby did. My cards work fine. Poster board from Walgreens and coin envelopes from Office Depot.

I'm all for making it yourself if you can, this way you become your own resource for it, especially with an effect like this where you have to replace the cards as they wear out.

That being said, the Feel-A-Color product is probably just as good and cheap!

Under $2.00 from either Penguin or TrickShopMagic in Temecula:

http://www.trickshopmagic.com/rmfeelaco.html

At that price you can probably stock up enough to last you for years.

Thanks much to everyone here. I tried and did make them but for me at least, it is not 100 pct as Darby stated above. I bought poster board also (paper of course did not work). I wonder if the feel a color works better. Perhaps a person needs calibrated fingertips for this to work.

Sam, thanks for PM and your help. At least I have a lot of poster board for the kids:) I guess I will try the ones for sale on penguin. Shipping is three times what they cost. Smile

PS: This is a great for the Living and Dead test also if I can only get it to work.

This may be off-the-wall, but it may be worth a try to double up the board. The discrepancy may be magnified, who knows.

Also, I have found that some mfgr's operate on the 90, and some on the 45. I've always liked the 45 best.

For those who have owned the commercial and homemade versions; please tell me that I did not waste my money and time buying the commercial version. I mean if I still have problems telling the difference in the sides, this endeavor will prove untrustworthy at best.

Thanks

It would be so nice to see the fillman principle applied to ESP cards!

I think Bob has given you the necessary information to make a set of ESP cards that would work - but they would need to have the symbol on both sides of the card - so you'd need to think if you can create an effect with that.
