Mentalist Sam is correct, his blindfold/Q & A act is the longest section of the show (about 30 minutes). It is also the part that the audience likes best. When fellow mentalists watch a show, they should spend as much time watching the audience as they do the mentalist.
Whenever I went to Tannens to pick up some supplies, Tony Spina would say, "Hey, John, I got something new, a real magician fooler." I would always respond, "Do you have anything that would be entertaining to real people? I do not really perform for other mentalist and magicians." Tony would laugh and nod. So before you buy a new tossed out deck that requires no fishing and allows you to show that the entire deck is different, ask yourself, "what is wrong with my old one? Did my audience like it? If you cannot answer "no" to these questions, buy your honey some flowers or get a new tie and forget about that purchase... |

Hey there. Speed Painter, Dan Dunn here. I have never heard of Robert Channing until a few days ago. When another speed painter pointed out that Robert was using paintings by myself, another speed painter as well as a very famous speed painter who has passed. He posts these paintings, posing with them as if they are his work and when a cease and desist letter was sent his reply was, " Well I can see how they are similar..." Yeah right. Pixel by pixel jpg similar. Click "Save image as" similar.
It's sad, because he is a talent and an artist and If he spent half as much time in the painting studio as he does ripping people off, he might do something with his art one day. Anyway, I am just steamed and venting. I hesitate to even mention this because his theft and my bringing it to light makes me feel that I may be being petty. Copyright infringement is illegal but expensive to prosecute. Anyway, watch out for this guy in the magic community. He has no scruples. Just saying... |

You guys are funny!
1/ Claiming to be psychic on stage makes you neither a crock nor a crook... 2/ Story telling always has a place in our art. Some use it and some don't, but don't believe for a moment that college students won't sit still for it. Young minds soak that stuff up (we're hardwired to communicate through story). 3/ Many, successful top pros never change their act. "Dabblers perform many routines for the same audiences. Professionals perform the same routines for many audiences." Doug Dyment Sorry, I have to stop now. Steam is coming out my ears. Honestly wishing all of you the very best, Scott

A friend of Robert's contacted me and was able to mediate between us and my art was removed from his website. Which is all I wanted. Should not have been there to begin with but I am glad that it is not there now.
Cheers. Dan Dunn paintjam. |

This seems like a personal issue or vendetta tat has nothing to do with entertainment. Seems you just joined membership here to create a situation.
