Hi all, I'm looking for a Le Paul Wallet and the only one that my Magic Shop is selling is from Vernet. Does anyone have any experience with this one? How good it is compare to other wallet? Any info will be appreciate.
Thanks! Johnny |

I've got one and use it for a ring to envelope effect.
It's thin, it's light, it's practical. It is basic looking and doesn't look like a real expensive wallet. However, it does the job. I'm happy with it. Chappelly |

The LePaul wallet was the long sought after wallent years ago. Everyone wanted to do the card in envelope in wallet. People everywhere were coming back from vacations in Florida and California and Las Vegas, showing thier envelop partly torn open and exclaiming that their signed card was in this sealed envelope.
Larry Jenning was making it famous in the underground around the magic societies. It also became knowned as the Larry Jennings Wallet. Jeff Busby came out with very soft high quality wallets as did a person in Hawaii. It was all the rage and best Killer effect a magician could do for an audience. Later Paul Gertner used it for his Trade Show work, causing a borrrowed Finger Ring to appear in an envelope, in exchange with a $100 bill. For years many have used a wallet like the one Tony Curtis pictured above for the Terry Seabrooke Burnt Bill in Envelope, in Wallet. This did away with the usual very classic slit in wallet to this new fantastic wallet. Terry Seabrooke also published his no palm card in wallet in envelope with his wallet. It was an easy transferance to the Jennings/Lepaul wallet for both of these wonderful sockum tricks. Others have jumped on the bandwagon including Scotty York to make the Jennings/LePaul Wallet with minor features. Why use this type of wallet, because it is fantastic, and I can carry several other dollar bill, credit card, and membership card effects in this wallet. Many dollar bill effects require a bill being not-folded, like some of the counting dollar bill effects. Thus I can carry 4 or 5 tricks in my Jennings/LePaul Wallet. With a deck of cards and this wallet I can carry a half hour close-up show. What other wallet can do that? |

As far as I know, magicians mostly use manila Kraft envelopes. I think you can find them at most stores or eBay. They come in various sizes, depending on your needs.
Btw, is there any picture showing the inside part of the wallet? For me it just looks like a spectacles case.

I have used LePaul styled wallets for two decades. In the past year have used wallets by Anthony Miller. They are of high quality and easy to use. They also get great reactions . They really are best suited for cards, bills and maybe a signed coin- rings or wrist watches not so much(this is mainly what I use the Le Paul for. In my opininon the Le Paul wallets get better reactions becasue of the envelope(a zippered compartmaent holds a sealed envelope which contains there personal item- a total butt kicker). In over twenty years and hundreds of performances I have had maybe 3 people comment that the wallet was unusual to them but in every case they said aloud " it has to be big to hold the envelope". Laymen get that form follows function. LePaul wallets aren't for eveyone I guess as at least one person on this thread has revealed perhaps a bit of prejudice towadrs the Le Paul wallet. There is a stationary chain on the west coast that sells the right size envelopes for most Le Pauls. Can't remeber the name at the moment but pm me and I'll get back to you. Old or not (some folks say that ) the Le Paul is a relaible work horse.
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

" at least one person on this thread has revealed perhaps a bit of prejudice towadrs the Le Paul wallet"
I doubt very much that anyone, ever, has formed a genuinely "prejudicial" view toward a LePaul Wallet. I suspect that many simply prefer different types, though. and a preference for a wallet that actually looks like the kind of wallet most men use is a reasonable preference, not a prejudice. |

My LePaul Wallet will take a 'Standard' size American size envelope 3-5/8" x 6-1/2". For the sealed envelope idea, a Baronial envelope should be used. They are very difficult to find in my area of the country.
A LePaul Wallet has the inside zip that goes across the top and down the side of one half of the inner wallet. If it is really a good wallet it also has a money (bill) compartment in the back. The one on the right is the one used with the LePaul Wallet with a Baronial envelope. Click here to view attached image. |
