I'm looking for a way to gaff a chocolate box so that the chocolates disappear.
One audience member gets to take a chocolate, but the other pieces can be fake. I'm trying to keep the box as non-"prop"-ish as possible -- so that it looks as if I've simply bought a box at the corner before the show. The few illusion books I have are no help - any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Mmm ... chocolate Sean |

Perhaps you could use the principle behind the Changing Dice Box?

There is a similar effect using a box of cigars which changes into 2 doves. This is described in Dunningers' Complete Encylopedia of Magic and is called "Mystic Smoke" You could adopt it to work with chocolates although this works with a hinged lid type box.

Both good ideas --
Good ol' Dunninger. I lost my Encyclopedia years ago in a flood. Time to get a new one I think. Any other suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again! Sean |

How about the dove pan principle in reverse?

Think along the lines of the big box of See's or other store stuff, the double layer of chocolate, that "should" be there.....
at least (given my proclivity for chocolate) is how I might start to make such a thing Kay Life is to short for crummy chocolate!

Could you build a box with openings on the top and bottom and in handling the box flip it over?

How about something like the Dissappearing Dove in Shoe Box from Mark Wilsons book. Each piece of dissapearing candy would be take place in the dove bag, and would be fastened with thread.
Magic is fun!!!
