You can probably work with the clipped corners. These cards are at least worth looking into and checking out.

I don't think the clipped corners would have too much effect on manipulating the cards. On the other hand, I'm not into card manip. in a big way , so others with more experience will need to speak to that. I can do basic backpalm vanish and productions , card fan productions, but I don't use do this type of stuff on a regular basis.
The flesh (light brown/tan) -colored Bellagio casino cards are all over eBay . Around 3.00 to 4.00 a pack . |

Thanks for the information everyone. As I have said before, You will have to get a bunch of different sets of cards and just experiment with them. Find out what works best for you and what you are most comfortable with. Cards are like cars, people like driving different styles. Find out what style is your favorite.

Why hasn't anyone suggested painting the corner of the last few card flesh color on the Bee corners.
Model paint company Testor use to sell model paint and spay paint in Sand Beige color. I use to paint the corners of the last card of each stack. Testor sells or sold a flesh color for painting of figures in model planes and such. But sand beige is a closer match to skin color. If you use the spray paint you get a nice even coat. The same goes for using bee cards with gloves. Just paint the corners. Neil Foster gave me this tip 20 years ago. It works! Bill |

If you work in front of a black curtain use black backed cards. You can hold you fingers wider apart.
Juliana Chen's cards are black on one end, white on the other so she can work in front of two different colored backgrounds.) If you are really serious about it HAVE YOUR OWN CARDS PRINTED.

Personally I think using Bee's is the easiest thing. McBride shows a great way to break in cards on his Art of Card Manipulation video. Bee's are a lot cheaper than manipulation cards, last longer and have a great back design for manipulation.

In the 'olde' days, before the Bee design, there was a card that was "softer" and had a pattern similar to the Bee design that was almost flesh colored. I think they were called "Steamboat" cards.

I use cancelled casino Bees with the clipped corners all the time and I have had no problems with the corners. Zaubern you are right, they are cheaper than manipulation decks and work just as well.
Pete, You are right, I have a deck of Steamboats and they work very well. They are very hard to get. As a side note, I read your article in Magic a couple of issues ago and you did a great job. Keep up the good work. |

This was described in Ian Adair's Television Card Manipulation softbound book on p 37. |

Yes Pete, my mistake, since I get both magazines I was "sleightly" confused.

Hi Bill,
I think it's a good idea. I was just giving a reference from an old book describing that idea. |
