Just as the topic title say, have you ladies ever thought of adding escape illusions in your magic act? I'm rather surprised this hasn't been embraced too much especially since having female (especially the really sexy-looking ones) performing an escape would be far more exhilarating and heart-pounding for the audience to watch. I would imagine having a female doing any of Houdini's water escapes would reel in a much bigger audience than if some guy does it considering it's mostly guys doing it, and that's not too exciting (no offense to the guys who does this).

Maybe with the announcement: I do not need brutal force - I need my hair pin. Swallow the hair pin with a glass of champain (razor blade method), get out of the restraints and then place the hair pin back into your hair... That could fit Emma Peel from "The Avengers".

Just beware of attracting a bondage element (unless you want to.)

There was a discussion of that bit ago and some rather creepy attention some female escape artists have received in the past...

Tell you who does a good one, and that's galithia connections.
They do a simultaneous escape, like a race, that's quite lovely to watch.

Check em out!

Ok, ok I know you guys exist plus there's Dayle Krall, Morgan, and Alexandria the Great for more examples. But certainly there could be a revolution of more female brave and good-looking magicians performing escapes that can really entice the media, right? For instance, I have been hearing about Krystyn Lambert about being "female David Blaine" which I'm not buying too much considering David Blaine also did extreme escapes I certainly doubt she did (obviously they labeled her that way due to her close-up magic). Having her be a total counterpart of David Blaine would really bring good attention towards her, right?

I should add those "supposed" Las Vegas showgirls performing magic should be excellent candidates of doing escapes. Hell if Italy lets beauty model Antonella Elia perform a water escape here:

...certainly the showgirls doing escapes would be an excellent attention grabber.

Okay I was curious so I looked up Krystyn Lambert on youtube.

I MUST be getting old, because she looks and sounds 12 to me.

Ha haa, Cyberqat, she's a teen, but not 12! She IS a pistol, though! I see talent there! Watch, we could see her in the near future. She's bright, energetic, not shy, and obviously knows her stuff! Bravo, Krystyn!

Hey JC Sum! Is Magic Babe Ning planning to do more escapes in the future, maybe even water escapes?

All yes. That seems to be the "easy entry" escape they tend to do along with handcuff/chain escapes.

I had an effect that was suggested to me as an escape. I liked the danger element of being chained into a doorway, filling the frame, waiting for a Harley to crash through. (Then escape in time to be safe.) But I decided to do it as a penetration, instead of an escape. The first one was built in the early '80s. Later, I wanted to reprise the illusion. Instead of using big paper covers in front and behind, I had clear doors, covered with black lace, that swiveled into place. You could see me when they closed. Their chief purpose was to form a chamber around me that was filled with smoke. As the Harley made its final approach, the assistants pulled the clear doors open. The harley would cut right through the fog, and screech to a halt at the stage apron. As the motorcycle moved out of center, the fog cleared, there I stood, still chained and filling the doorway. It turned out to be too finicky, though. If someone opened a door to the outside, even 2 floors down, the fog would dissipate quickly. It was fine in rehearsal, but difficult to stage from one venue to the next.

I sold it to another female magician, who was doing it in South America the last I heard. I bet she opted to go with the paper covering, too. Or, she figured out how to make the fog curtain more predictable. In building it, we really went to town with that darn thing. Smoke came into it from above, below, the sides. It was a big departure from most of my material. I was always proud to be able to have the right magic for every venue...and my theatrical act was actually very practical. The "Motorcycle Thru Magician" was not practical. But, I got a huge charge out of doing it. The secret to the effect: use any Harley provided, but use only your own, trusted rider.
