Greetings,
Anyone remember the Magic Townhouse on 3rd Ave. in NYC? I went there once when I was probably 10 or 12, and while perusing the shop area, there was a kids party going on, and I got volunteered to have a sword thrust through my neck (since I was older than the party kids, the magi thought it would be better to use me, since I wouldn't panic and would play along, including scream at the appropriate moment). It was a neat place, and I remember getting some deals there, including a Forgetful Freddy that if I still had is probably a collector's item. (PHOOEY!) Joe |

Hello Joe,
While I never visited the Townhouse, I do have very fond memories of Louis Tannens when they were located in the Wurlitzer Building and at 1540 Broadway. At any given visit it was literally a who's who of magic's greats. Take Care, Vincent |

While I never ordered from them nor did I ever have the chance to visit, I do remember as a young man often fondly thinking about Dorothy Detrich (the Original First Lady of Magic).

I went there once looking for a cane to table prop. The one they had was not well made and I never went back.

Yes, I went in the early 80s; a group of us went up to NYC on a magic shop tour.
