I am trying to come across a metal plate, very thin but strong, in the shape of a bridge sized playing card. I know I have seen these, but cannot remember where.
I would prefer not to cut my own because there are difficulties in shaping corners, and I am looking for an exact match (Neilson cards). The metal would also need be magnetic. Iron, Colbalt, Nickle, are some magnetic metals. Any leads would be wonderful. Regards. Posted: Oct 8, 2010 10:26pm Also, information leading to anyone who crafts such items would be appreciated. Kindest regards. |

I don't know of any metal plate the size of playing cards. I use to cut my own from hobby store tin. One problem is that Nielsen Cards are not the same size as regular bridge playing cards. So some trimming will be needed if you do find a metal plate the size of playing cards.
Being you want it magnetic, can you use magnetic playing cards that are on the market. Several companies such as KEM and Kling make magnetic playing cards. |

Magnetic playing cards are generally too flaccid from what I have seen. I need a firm plate that will hold its shape with an aversion to bends.

I know you mentioned you would rather not cut your own, but if you want to try, I suggest you could use a metal electrical box cover, only cost a about a dollar or less. That metal is hard to bend, I used a jewelers saw to cut the metal, it is just like a copping saw but smaller. Then if I did not cut it straight enough I would use a grinding wheel to smooth the edges and corners out.

The following aren't what you asked for exactly, but they're close and might help?
google: pass trainer steel deck shim card magic heaviest bicycle deck stainless steel playing cards Each throws up some useful links. I've found a number of suppliers for very thin magnetic steel sheet that I've used before, should you decide on the home-grown approach. |

Do you mind if I ask what your using them for, I would think it would be difficult to manipulate metal cards, but I could be wrong.
Cheers!
