Hi,
I was hoping someone on the Forum might have heard of an Illusionist who performed under the name Cazeneuve. I believe he was a contemporary of Joseffy. If so, any help in finding information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all! |

Hi Bill,
Thank you for the lead. I tried Bing and Yahoo search and found very little. On a Genii forum there is mention of him. I love tracking down these older (and lesser known) magicians. As far as Mr Cazeneuve, not only am I trying to find a bit of history on him but also a few of his effects. I am a fan of mechanical magic and I believe he used a few pieces in his shows. I am finding less about him then I did when I was researching Mr Alain Caboote and his acrobat Ioni. There was someone on Ebay that had a video of Caboote performing in So California in the 1970's. I missed the auction and the video and have never given up trying to find another copy. The other piece of info I have been chasing is an episode of a show that Dick Clark had in the 1970's. I think it was called DC's Wednesday Night. It was a variety show and I believe Caboote and Ioni performed. I know the video exists in an archive somewhere. I get lucky sometimes. I think gathering info is a challenge and when you finally get a bit it is like finding lost treasure. It would be a shame to forget these performers. Thank you again! |

I don't have my copy of the Annals of Conjuring handy, but there may be something there as well.

Hi and thank you,
There seem to be a few different versions of Annals of Conjuring. I don't own any of them. Are you referring to the one written by Sidney Clarke? It seems like a book worth purchasing. Most of my books in my collection are on Automata. Guess it is time to start making some new purchases. Thanks again! |

The Annals of Conjuring was originally a series that ran in the Magic Wand. Sidney Clark wrote all of those columns. There are a couple of different versions of the collection. One was simply an indexed collection that was put together by David Meyer. The other was an edited version by Todd Karr, et. al. that removed some of the errors in the original.
So, it depends on whether you want the originals or the corrected version.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for clearing that up. I priced the books and they range from 450.00 to 750.00, so I know that I will have to wait a bit. Normally, one thing I can buy without guilt are books, but this one is out of my range for now. Thank you again, veegates |
