I don't get it

he wasn't that impressive on piano and can't sing... it is a talent competition not a sad story and optimism competition, people do love a good story though!

I honestly believe I could do that with my feet, and I'm sure lots of children have done instead of practicing the piano properly

Well, AGT isn't a measure of talent either -- just a guess at who will be the best headliner in Las Vegas -- or will give the judges the greatest chance to increase ratings -- usaully by buying into someone's "tough road to success."

It's never about talent -- just about entertainment.

Yeah I know they aren't about talent, but I think they should change the name, China's got a champ or something, or Someone We Like In China even,

clearly all about ratings with this one, it's the kind of thing people will hear about all over the world and give immediate (and unwarranted) credit to

I watched all I could stick, it's kids stuff on piano,

While you are right about the repertoire, Adam, it's no more trivial than the vocal "talent" that keeps winning these competitions.

I agree, I can't figure out what is happening to television

imagine if any of the old greats were to come back to life and watch tv, they would be shocked

it makes me sad to see really talented people, like many Jazz musicians, getting nowhere

there is so much real talent out there that should be recognised, people think, if they were really talented they would be on these shows

I knew a kid when I was little who had no arms and he could write and draw etc with his feet and he was only six. I'm sure he could play a piano too if he wanted to...if he wanted to impress the world to quote buffy "clap".

He could really sing and play too. The Pope jumped off the stage to come down and kiss him.

By the way, do we know what kind of act he beat out to take it all?

It was a magician doing 6-card repeat. I would have gone with the piano guy, too.

But seriously, how can we meaningfully compare the talent of playing juvenile piano pieces with your feet to the talent of playing Rachmaninoff with your hands?

Probably can't. But he really was up against a 7 year old stand up comic, so I probaly would have gone with the piano guy too. Not that the guy isn't inspriational, but apparently even with a billion people in country there was still a dearth of talent on this seasons show.
