Hey all. I have been messing with logos and such and have a bit of a problem. my main logo is a stylized pic of my hair and eyes. I have dreads and it makes me stand out and recognizable. figure I'd capitalize on this. Problem is I am trying to do kids birthday parties and also trying to get into adult (bar/club etc) shows with my sideshow/bizarre/comedy stuff. When I'm putting my name on sites like eventnow.com and gigsalad etc I have to put some pictures. so if I put a kid friendly logo I wont get the guy booking an adult show to notice me and vice versa... should I double register on sites or can I come up with a logo that appeals to both without being crowded? I like my current logo as far as simple logos go, but it doesn't tell people what I do unless they read... anyways... any help is appreciated!

Adult one --in black & white.
Kid one --print hair in multicolor like clown wig. Wear clown wig to gig. |

Imaging and branding are so important, so be sure you really know what you want and that it will serve both (all) of the markets you are targeting.
Many will tell you each market should be serves separately. If you are trying to have a "one logo fits all" concept you may have to make it more general. Other than showcasing your one feature (hair) this logo really doesn't scream - magician or perhaps professionalism as much as it says "look at me". To me this logo is more about your image than your magic. I believe most marketing should be created from the customers perspective, while serving their interests and needs. This logo does neither. I could see having something else to catch them, interest them and engage them, then once they are in (to your web site) feature your self-highlights, again if appropriate for the market(s). Just my two cents. |

Logos should be clean and simple so they can be printed clearly in a large variety of situations.
Your hair IMHO is too complex and could come out a muddy mess in some situations.
It is always darkest just before you are eaten by a grue.

I guess my thought is, I AM promoting me... look at me. I am recognizable around my town cause I stand out. people see my card with my hair they know me when they see me. Problem with coming up with a logo that says what I do is I offer a lot. I teach magic/juggling/fire eating, I do magic shows for 5 yo or bar shows with sideshow things. Only way I can think of is promote me as a person. look at Criss Angels logo and promo stuff. if you didn't know who he was you might not have any idea what he did. His "A" logo tells you nothing. He could be a rock star or model, or whatever.
any ideas or examples of a GOOD logo? |

I like your logo, I only think it could be enhanced with a fire image at the bottom under the word magician.
I would promote yourself to the better paying gigs. Then at the bottom, include a saying like, 'Kids love him, too!' or 'available for kids parties.' The rest you explain when they call for additional information. Most people relate magic for kids in their minds. I have found over the years of advertising, that what you picture is how you will be precieved. Example: A picture of the magician with Multiplying Bottles would get more responses from adult shows. A picture with a rabbit will get more kid shows. Your fire will relate more to the adult type of thinking. Playing cards as well relate to as adult. Having a professional photographer take good pictures affects teh minds of the client as well. It is better, I believe, when they ask, do you did kids parties, it is harder to got the other way. |
