The base and legs on Jam DO look like George's Kub-Zag, but I have never heard that he built a JAM illusion. I know there are several folks that have made Shadow Theater, including Owen Redwine and Gerry Frenette, but I'm sure there are others.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

George did build several Jam Illusions at one point.

Latches. Construction of the tubes. Leg design. Yep. It definitely looks like a Chalet. George sold quite a few of them years ago.
It could NOT be a SMMagic prop. We've never built a Jam illusion. No one has called wanting one. Studying it, that does look like it's been modified somewhat. Chalet didn't make the openings square on any of the ones I've ever seen. The stripes on the side supports usually matched the color on the box, too. Now that I think about it, I've never seen any where George used those Kub Zag legs on a Jam illusion. Kub Zag legs attach differently than on a Jam. This *COULD* be someone trying to simulate the Chalet look. I'd have to see the prop in person to know for sure. You could always snap a screen picture, send it to George and ask him. I'm sure he'd remember. Dan Wolfe |

Hey Dan,
Actually I think George did build JAMs with MKZ legs. His was also the only one I've seen with the Wakeling ball feet (although I do not like it for such a stout prop). Here is pic from Chalet's site years ago. I concur and think this is Chalet built, if not a very accurate copy but I doubt it. J C Click here to view attached image.

Thanks, J.C.! I stand corrected.
The only photos George ever showed me of the Jam illusions he'd made either had stick legs (like the early Kub Zags) or much shorter tapered legs that matched the lower part of the table. I'd just never seen one like that. That photo HAS to be a Chalet, too. George did love that pink and purple combination... Dan |

Who has the rights to build JAM now??

@ Dahih - What illusion pics are you interested in?
Kyle, best reson to answer that question would be Rand Woodburry. Although the way JAM is designed now is different from how Rand originally built it. J C
