Hey there,
I have a black and white wooden dancing cane. There is one nagging problem though, the gimmick always breaks. Does anyone know where can I find a better and stronger gimmick? What is it called? Thanks~! |

Hey Magic_streak,
Try bringing a small sample of your gimmick to your local arts and crafts store. They will be able to match it and maybe find something stronger. Hope this helps a little, Evan |

For very reliable Dancing Cane gimmick, I use a product manufactured by Eddington. You can purchase this brand of 'gimmick' from an upholstery shop. This stuff can sure take a beating!
You are more than welcome to go to http://www.magickits.com and purchase my Dancing Cane booklet. You'll find it under the Video and Special Magic icon. I explain what gimmicks are best for Dancing Canes in my booklet. Hope this helps, - - Troy

Try finding one in the fishing section of a sporting goods store. Some great stuff has been made available in the past few years.

Yep! As a matter of a fact Losander has probably some of the greatest new methods of dancing wands and dancing canes. Do be warned there a little pricy, but worth every dollar. You start clean and finish clean! You can even use the dancing wand for close-up and restraunt work! They are very impressive. Take a look at his demonsrtation at... http://www.losander.com
![]() But to Answer the original Question, try black 100% spun polyester T. It should hold really well!

If your gimmick keeps breaking perhaps you should practice a little bit more. I don't mean to be condescending because I had the exact same problem for a long time. Finally I replaced the gimmick with a regular (and much stronger) version for home practice.
You should be able to feel when there is too much strain on the gimmick and be able to adjust your moves accordingly. PM me if you have more questions. Kevin |

I had the same problem a while ago but since I got a new one from Losander it never broke again! His gimmicks are very strong. Patrick Thomas |

What colour is the best? I used to use black but now I've switched to translucent, sorta like fishing line colour. What are the colours you guys use?

Excaliber,
Denny & Lee Magic sell the dancing and Acrobatic Golf Club. It only cost a $100. http://www.dennymagic.com I is very realistic. I own the original Russ Walsch Club that I purchased in 1963. I love it and always gets a great reaction. I use it to patter, short and sweet. Bill |

I use black colour, but the lighting of the stage is very important. Always red or blue colour or both combined (better red). Adolfo

Don't ever perform outside or you'll be sorry. I had an outdoor festival and wasn't even thinking about lighting. It was interesting to listen to the oohs and aahs and the whispers of there is a st***g with the mommy's telling the little darlings to be quiet. They were all performed into the setting sun so you know what it was like. Reworked my musical set after those long 4 shows.
