This was also reviewed in Jheff's newsletter and didn't go down all that well. I've not seen it myself so can't really say what its like for sure.

I purchased Modern Mentalism Vol. 1 after watching the wizard product review:
If you're a beginner and looking for a couple of easy tricks to perform to your friends, this DVD is alright. However, if you're an advanced mentalist you will probably be disappointed! I absolutely don't understand why Craig prefers the ACAAN routine on this DVD over Berlgas' version. Matt's version is not even a real ACAAN routine but rather a prediction... |

I write a short review about this product. I don't like it. No credit at all. Respect is necessary in our art.

So am I safe to say that this DVD is good for magicians who are new to mentalism who would like a few good mentalism tricks for their table hopping or walk around? But not good for someone who is more versed in the subject?
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

Mr. Mello :I bought the DVD with great expectations , sadly I felt that don't worth my money.
Why do you sell your CAAN as a ACAAN? Do you know that your idea in Add a No was a VERY old idea? |

You need to credit specific ideas to their respective creators as you're teaching the effect, not in one lumped list in the end credits (unless that list delineated each idea and its source, like footnotes, which some authors have done). If I wanted to research any of the ideas you use, I wouldn't know where to start or whose works to research for specific ideas, nor would anyone else unfamiliar with the ideas. As for forgetting anyone, how about Jack London, who's Almost Real Prediction you used without crediting to Jack, nor even acknowledging that this an old idea that you learned elsewhere? My latest newsletter already contained my comments on your DVDs and I'm not going to reprint them here. Rebecca is correct, though, for a variety of reasons I did conclude that I can not recommend these DVDs to any mentalist at any level. - Jheff http://www.MarketplaceoftheMind.com

The effects are not bad, as previously stated- if you are just entering the field of mentalism- then Yes- this would be good for you. Though, I Really like the CAAN. It is not an ACAAN, but a very good CAAN. Very Clean. RNK

I watched vol 2 last night. My only favorite item/effect was the Dark Arts effect. It is an interesting and good concept for using a coin envelope to p..k at a person's drawing. IT is a good, organic alternative to using a standar p..k wallet. Both the first routien invovlign knowing a random card selected and The Pick and Prediction effect were very weak. The lo.p effect was OK, nothing special, but is good if someone has never used lo.ps before. All is all it is probably a good dvd for beginners as an introduction to mentalism effects. If you are intersted in using a coin envelope instead of a wallet for p..ks then this dvd is worth the investment.
