You're banned because as a child I was taught there are 12 English shillings in a pound, and that screwed up my understanding of the decimal system here in the USA.

Think of a decimal number as a Whole Number plus a Decimal Fraction.

So "2.3" would look like this:

And "13.76" would look like this:

Those are all good ways to think of decimal numbers.
