The one I have is 13 X 26 X 5 1/2. The bar code on the box says 3649. The pizza box fits perfect.

My feeling about the extra cover is that unless you really have a specific reason to want an alternative design, why on Earth would you want it? I haven't even applied for mine, nor will I. The thought of a plastic sleeve on the front sounds rather dismal to me. The graphics as they are stand out bright and bold. I love the look of the prop, and can't envisage a plastic sleeve being any kind of improvement, rather I imagine it would make the prop look far less fantastic. Somehow I think here Dan is gilding the lily.
I use the Pizza Box all the time. It DOES play well for older kids, in fact, I've now forgotten about age preferences, and simply see it as a wonderful intro into any puppet routine I choose. I simply claim that my puppet's favourite food is Pizza, and that on the way to the venue I spotted a new Pizza joint, which had a special deal "two for one pizzas. They even give you the pizzas in this special box - look, it's two pizza boxes joined together." I ask the kids what their favourite pizza toppings are, then claim that the FIRST pizza is exactly that topping....then ask for another fave topping, allow the pizza to roll across, open the door, and claim that THIS pizza has the second favourite topping. Occasionally I'm able to say "it's not a roll, it's a pizza!" If the use the word "roll" (as opposed to "rolling") when they scream at you. Great prop, great workings, great effect. I love it! And I don't even bother to produce the second pizza, it vanishes, and I'm done - straight into the puppet routine. The vanish is very strong - I regularly get spontaneous applause for this, as well as laughs and gasps. If I were to suggest any improvement, it would be to make the pizza look REAL. That would be awesome, and I think, quite possible. :pirate: |

I agree, Potty. I did not apply for my free plastic sleeve either. As much as I love free things, I cannot possibly see a need for changing the look of this prop.
I do make the pizza reappear ... for me, it completes the "circle of magic" in a satisfying manner, and it's one more "punch" to the routine. A real-looking pizza would be nice. Last week I had scouts shouting, "It's not real!" Funny, they did not say that about my feather flowers or jumbo cards! |

I ordered mine today and call and talked to Dan. He has actually change the way he is selling these. Now you can only get it with the graphics on the prop. He is including the sleeves and card stock inserts for the graphics on the front. This is for anyone who needs to customize the front they can remove the graphics on the prop and customize.
Thanks for the info Al. Tim |

In my own defense here, Potty. I have clients who asked for something like the changeable artwork option. They'd bought a box with specific artwork for a themed show (Halloween, Christmas, Religious shows, Trade Shows, etc.) and then had to buy a second, "Pizza" themed box for their regular shows. I felt badly that they now had to purchase two props so they could use it year-round. The changeable upgrade was born.
As Mark Twain said, "Nothing is so good that somebody somewhere won't hate it." I don't begrudge you your opinion! The option is simply offered for those who don't always perform as the same character. Tim is correct. The Pizza Boxes now ALL come with the original artwork AND the upgrade kit. It was just easier to stock them that way. After the purchase, Clients have about a year to decide if they want to strip off the artwork and apply the changeable art sleeve. After a year, the red and green film used for the artwork becomes permanent. Printed/laminated inserts are also included that will replicate the original look of the prop before the upgrade. BTW, Tim, I have to make a trip to deliver an illusion today (surprise!), but will make every effort to get back in time to send out your Pizza Box this afternoon. You should still have it by the weekend. Dan Wolfe/"EARL" |

Earl, it wasn't really a criticism as much as an observation that (in my opinion) the prop looks so good in it's original design. I for one wouldn't want a plastic sleeve on the front, which I think would detract from it's look. I suppose if, for some reason, I wanted a different graphic, I'd simply print it onto card, and attach it temporarily with blu-tack or similar. Or for a permanent alteration, I'd peel off the original stickers, have new ones made at a printer's shop, and apply them.
I can see the point that changing the graphics would give a unique prop that no one else has - but what about the Pizzas? If you're still going to use those, then what else would the box be, but a pizza box? As I said, I'm more than happy with mine just as it is. By the way, the reason I don't make the pizza reappear is so that I've got a nice bit of dialogue with my puppet, who asks when he'll be getting his pizza...... |

I did a party at a local family owned pizzeria, when I opened my pizza box case, and showed them my box with their logo on it my pizza box got a round of applause.

I'm with Potty on this one. I think the prop looks great. If I needed to customize, I think I'd just put a temporary cover on with temporary adhesive of some kind. Or maybe I'd ask Dan if I could just get a second set of doors (Dan?)
BTW, I love this guy's stuff. This is one of those businesses I would never hesitate to buy from. |

With all these posts and positive reviews, I am very much tempted to get one soon. I've seem some realistic pizzas available in the Japanese display shops here.

The pizza is 1/4 inch thick, or it just won't work, but if you find a good looking pizza that will fit I'de be interested in buying one too.

1/4" thick (or less), and heavy and round enough to roll smoothly.
How about a photo of a pizza to stick on? |

I'm glad that you are buying the pizza box before you go shopping for a new pizza. I think that it will be like hunting for a needle in a hay stack to find a replacement pizza off the shelf in Japan. You'd probibly have more success coming up with pizza graphics that you are happy with, and giving it to Dan Wolfe for a special order pizza. Perhaps Dan Wolfe could have a new pizza design contest?

Why limit it to Pizza?
Why not make it a giant button factory ... jumbo cookie ... pancake house ... Huge coin ... a hubcap ... manhole cover ... a dinner plate ... a discus ... a drumhead ... a pie ... a clock face ...the Earth (planet, moon) ... a CD/DVD ... a wheel ... boobs ... a basketball (baseball, soccer) ... a hockey puck ... table saw blade ... a gumball ... a gear ... Hugh Hefner's bed ... a contact lens ... a poker chip ... an English muffin ... a bagel ... Just asking. |

Yea
I'm thinken $25 per disc, and if you are going to change the kind of disc that you use you must also use the vynal covers to change your doors.

I was not implying that we do all of my suggestions; many (most?) of them are quite stupid. All I meant was, if you are going to go to the trouble of changing out the pizza, why not really make it our own and do something creative with it. Nothing says this has to be a pizza ... by looking at it differently, maybe a new, better idea can come out of it.

I think the Pizza Box looks great as it is. Sure, if you discover a bunch of your local buddies also have it, maybe change the theme. But if not, it seems like a whole lot of work for nothing.....
A couple of thoughts occurred to me about the fake look of the pizza - you could claim it's a "super thin crust pizza", or if you're introducing a puppet routine with it (as I do), and the kids comment that the pizza isn't real, you just tell them it's for your puppet friend - and of course, he doesn't eat real pizza.... |
