Ok, beginning of the season: would ANYONE have predicted that the Texas Rangers would go all the way?

If the Giants can pull it off in Philly, this would be a 1000 to one odds series!

Gaddy...don't mention the Giants. The only thing I'm superstitious about is baseball and I love the Giants and I...I...I am hoping.

The last time the Giants won a world series they played at the Polo Grounds in 1954. They swept the Cleveland Indians in four games that year, and with a little bit of luck the Giants 2010 season will end tomorrow.

Because the Rangers won last night the Phillies game has been changed to 8:00 pm, which throws my afternoon plans out the window.

Don't worry man, even Boston broke the curse. Took nearly a hundred years, but they did it. So, you know, chin up.

The Giants just won the world series 56 years ago, and they did it in a clean sweep.

1954 was 66 years ago, not 56 Smile
So the Giants have a few years to go before they are as bad off as Boston was.
I still love the BoSox even when they lose. As the song goes:

66, 56 I knew that there was at least one 6 in there.

If you are going to talk about baseball droughts here I have to mention, before Danny Doyle reminds us all that the Chicago Cubs beat the Detroit Tigers in 1908 for there last world series championship, and a 102 year drought must be some kind of record.

Yeah, Boston's "my" team but I have a spot in my heart for the Cubbies too.

Props to Critter for the Jedi Mind Trick, though...he had you convinced you'd messed up! Good subtopic for one of the mentalism threads.

The only quarter that I didn't get a perfect 4.0 was the one when I took precalculus. Not even real calculus, pre-dang-calculus. I do not have a mind for numerical processes. I can logic almost anything else out, but not numbers.

I'm really glad to see the Rangers win! Actually, I'm really glad to see the Yankees lose Smile. Josh Hamilton is a great story line, though and I really want to see Cliff Lee pitch in a big spot. I think Game 1 of the world series qualifies!

Now it comes does to the Giants and the Phillies. This I'm indifferent about. I'm just really glad that Halladay doesn't pitch in the AL East anymore!
