These deep somnambulists are the type who may refuse to come out of trance--not because they can't, but because they like it so much they don't want to leave it. It feels sooooo good.
I've dealt with a few people who are like that by telling them that yes, it feels wonderful, but unless they come back now I will NEVER take them to this level again. They usually pop right out. I had a trainer tell me that if this happens on stage, he tells them, "Unless you come up right now I'm going to start humping your leg like a dog!" They're back in no time! Bottom line: the hypnotized person who couldn't come out of hypnosis story is a myth. |

Actually you will come across the odd person who doesn't come out no matter what you do. You have let them come out in their own time. Its rare but it does happen. One theory is that the body needs the down time and while in trance is recharging itself and won't come out till ready. Of course its just a theory. At the end of the day who really knows what is happening. |

I've never had it happen, MP.
I think the theory sounds plausible because it is a wonderful experience. Have you ever had people refuse to come out? Not stories people have told you or events you've heard of. We go back and forth, but I think you're experienced and talented enough not to have experienced this. |

I have had a couple of people that didn't respond to anything Although one had a hearing aid in each ear! But I tried everything she came round 45 mins later but didn't recognise her boyfriend.
My original mentor told me that it h appened to him once and they took the lady into the dressing room where she came too about an hor later. According to him she had a bad nervous skin rash on her chest which disappeared during that time. Of course I have no idea if that is the truth. But in therapy as you probably know kicking off a process in trance that move on a problem is a style of therapy. Its at least plausable that its possible. But just a theory. |

He will try to do instant hypnosis on me now.
Do you think that it will be easier to do? Are my chances higher at getting hypnotised? Also, if I do get hypnotised, will I be able to get hypnotised again easier? - Using the other method hes been using.

If he's only going to "try" it, instead of actually do it, no.
Will it be easier to do? Depends upon you & him. Are your chances higher? Depends upon you & him. Will being hypnotized make getting hypnotized in the future easier? Generally, yes. But it depends upon you and him. Why do you want to be hypnotized using a method that didn't work for you before? Why not just use what works? |

It depends upon what he is capable of doing. I am not a big fan of instants for a variety of reasons, but I can and do use them with appropriate clients and/or actors. If he actually doesn't like using them, as you described, it can come through in his attempts at them. I believe it was Elliotson (could be wrong) who wrote that if the hypnotist doesn't believe he can hypnotize someone, he won't be able to do so. If the hypnotists doesn't believe the hypnotherapy will work, it won't be successful.
It depends upon you because if you have some misunderstanding of hypnosis that translates as an unconscious fear, your mind won't let you go into hypnosis. For example, you may falsely think that hypnosis can work as a "truth serum" and you have some secret you don't want to blurt out. Your misunderstanding would become a fear preventing hypnosis. Further, the more you respect and like this person, the more you are likely to allow hypnosis to happen. Hypnotists often spend a lot of time learning how to develop rapport with audiences and/or clients. Richard Nongard discusses this in his "Stage Hypnosis Pre-talk and Induction" DVD. If you do no have good rapport with him as a hypnotist, the attempts at hypnosis may fail. Bottom line: Pakar gave you good advice. Find another hypnotist. |

There is only one model of hypnosis that will improve you as a subject. Read 'The Highly Hypnotizable Person' and then you will know what that model is. It often turns bad to good in a single session. No trance, no state change and no increase in suggestibility.
Jon Chase, you have said on many occasions your original trainer and mentor can drop you like a stone. Assuming you meant hypnotically, how does that tally up with the percentages? Anthony
