Wow wow wow!!!
This movie is better then I expected! I just got back from seeing it with my folks. Totally different from the movies that have been coming out lately (thank goodness!) A VERY entertaining movie that throws you for a few loops (well it did me anyway.) I highly recommened seeing it. I really enjoyed it (and for you single guys, Kiera Knightly is pretty cute ) So far This movie and The Italian Job top my list. Chris |

I like Johnny Depp (see Ed Wood, trust me). It looks like it could be fun in a cheesey B-movie way. Of course I won't be seeing it as I have sworn off all Jerry Bruckheimer movies.

I didn't like it. It was basically made up for the trailer they have been shoving down our throats for the last couple months.
You can recognize every single scene from the trailer, because the energy of the movie comes to a big moment when they say the line, then it drops back off to nothing. Some of the lines didn't even make sense, they put them in there just for the trailer, /sigh. The movie was more like a kid's movie, and pretty predictable. It was ok for entertainment, if you can turn your brain off. It was kinda fun to watch. Johnny Depp was awesome as always...he made a kooky pirate. Better than Charlie's Angel's 2, but worse than T3 which was awesome. See it if you have the money to spend, otherwise wait for the video. |

This is a great film. I would really recommend seeing it. Great story and awesome special effects and fighting. Nine out of 10 for sure in my mind. Well worth the money to see in theaters.

The park was going to close in about 45 minutes and my parents PROMISED me I could go to the magic shop before we left. Well I was still waiting and they PROMISED that after this ride we would go to the magic shop. So we go on the ride (which I normally enjoy but I was sooooo anxious to get to the shop I was bored out of my mind.) Anyway we are coming to the end of the ride about to get off, we are the 5th boat and guess what? THE RIDE GOT STUCK! WE were sitting in this stupid boat on a stupid ride and I was in a BAD mood. All day I waited for the magic shop and now it was going to be closed After waiting a half hour for them to get us off the ride we were ready to go home. I was very mad. I was yelling and basically being a brat (I was 11 at the time.) Well RIGHT before we even pass the shop on our way out an announce ment comes over the speakers, "The stores in our park will stay open another hour due to ride problems in the parks. All rides will be shut down but for those of you that experienced any ride problems you have an extra hour of shopping." I RACED over to the shop ecstatic! I even bought a trick (unfortunately it was an overpriced piece of junk that I threw away a few months later.) Chris |

This was an incredible movie. From the trailer, all my friends and I thought it would be horrible...but we saw it anyway. I left the theater speechless. It is much better than the **** that's been coming out lately (Hulk, etc.)...T3 was OK...this was better. Orlando Bloom plays a good romantic lead...too bad Oklahoma's not running on Broadway anymore... he would make a great Curly (or any of the other several romantic lead characters). It's nice to see a return to the more traditional heroic leading man in a comedy. Geoffrey Rush also has an exceptional performance. The only actor I did not care for was the one playing Norrington. He could have done more with the role. Keira Knightly was good too; I'll go see her nightly (puh-dum-pum). Then there's Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp offers the best performance I've seen in a movie in about a year or even two. What an incredible interpretation of a character. When reading the screenplay, the character logically does not come off as what Johnny Depp did...but Depp interpreted it differently and it was incredible! If he doesn't receive or at least get nominated for an Oscar.... He was able to do what most actors can't do well. He was able to create a big, over-the-top character that fit on screen. Zero Mostel could do it, and Kevin Kline can. It is the reason none of Nathan Lane's movies since the Birdcage have not been successful. He is great for stage...but is too big for the screen. What Johnny Depp did requires great talent and discipline, otherwise (on screen...not on stage) it can end up looking stupid and unrealistic. The same works backwards...when movie actors do stage, they tend to be too small for the stage and the show feels like there's a lack of overall energy...plus, any of their actions and facial expressions can't be seen past the first few rows (they were spoiled by camera close-ups). Anyway, go see this movie; you won't regret it (as a matter of fact, you'll thank Disney for making it).

I agree with what you said about Johnny Deep.
I never really cared for his acting (could be the fact I never really saw his movies.) I think he did an EXCELLENT job. I had trouble remembering who the actor was! Chris |

And Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. That is some acting, especially if you have ever seen the guy in real life he was playing.
This was better than T3? NO WAY. T3 was a really good action movie with a lot of thought put into it. This movie was doomed from the start. It was put together to look appetizing to the crowd. But, through good acting they barely saved the movie. It was entertaining just to watch Depp do his thing. But you could do that from video, so I say wait for the video to come out. It'll be cheaper =) |

T3 was a simple, run of the mill action movie. It had some nice recall jokes (like the Psychiatrist)...but it was your everyday action movie.
This was not your everyday Disney movie, nor was it your everyday audience-pleasing movie. Of course the movie was made to please audiences....All movies (except those artsy ones...ones with which Johnny Depp usually seems to be associated) are made to please audiences. That's why producers produce movies... It may not have intricate symbolism and metaphor, but do we all go to movies so that we can better ourselves for our next English class? This movie was made to entertain; it has a good plot, good characterization, and great acting. Why not please audience while your at it, so you can make some money? |

I just got back from Disneyland and havent seen Pirates of the Caribean yet. I went on the ride a couple of times thinking what the movie would have been about.
Seismic: The Magic shop you went to in Disneyland is my favorite store! I spent most of my hours there at the Magic Shop! Disneyland is a fun place! and I hope to go back soon someday! |

Saw this last weekend and actually found myself liking it. It was way too long (how many times was Johnny Depp going to be captured and escape?) and the script was obviously goofy, but it was fun and definitely worth seeing for the performances. Johnney Depp was just awesome. Totally over-the-top with a hint of drag queen (the eye liner, anyone?) and very entertaining to watch. He was the main reason to see it.

PC the movie is interesting because with a PG13 rating there are children who can ride the ride but not see the movie.
Apparently you must be at least 'this tall' to enter the theatre. As for Disneyland staying open for shopping and an 'announcement' on the PA... Every park on Disney properties keeps their giftshops open until the park is clear of day guests. As for park announcements...I've worked for Disney and only ever heard a person paged ONE time. Park announcements aren't made. Robert Bloor
