It almost goes astray when little Peter comes in and says, "Weeeell Hellooooooo!", but Basil, Lionel Atwill and Bela save it from the kid. "A&C Meet Frank" was the best of all the A&C, IMHO. Quote:
In the Hammer Films' "Dracula" series with Christopher Lee, they progressively got better and then sharply declined. "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave" was that best of the lot. Glad someone mentioned Hammer films. "Horror of Dracula" is my favorite, but I also like "...Has Risen". Wasn't there a remake of the old "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? Watched the original with my wife, and it was hair-raising! "Dawn of the Dead" was great. I thought "Day.." was bad. "Diary of the Dead" absolutely awful.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, absolutely.
But if you'll admit it into the horror genre (it's a splatter film), HOSTEL 2 was phenomenal. It actually had some depth, nuance, plenty of really repulsive gore, and believe it or not an underlying sly (not Marvel-style juvenile) humor. |

There were two remakes of 'Invasion of the body snatchers'.
One was just called 'Invasion' I think. I never saw it, because I heard it was lame. But the one from the eighties wasn't bad.. It had Donald Sullivan in it. Randi |

I saw it in the theaters, invasion of the bodysnatchers, and it angered me for a reason that is too stupid to bring up but it made me bitter for years toward that movie. I guess it was alright though.

Granted the "ick" factor was cranked up, but the remake kept closer to the original short story and had the paranoia aspect that was missing in the '51 movie. The '51 movie took; "Arctic team finds alien who tries to kill them" and let it go at that, there was nothing to the alien's ability to mimic other people. The blood test sequence and the "head" sequence were epic.

I watched a clip of the ending of the 1978 "Invasion...." on YT, and my 15 year old daughter was in the room - not looking or really paying much attention to what I was watching. Sutherland's scream and the accompanying sound effect/music really creeped her out.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Speaking of Sutherland, but this time Keifer...
"The Lost Boys" was a really fun movie. But, it's sequel, "The Tribe" with the two Corey's and the other Frog brother was really bad.

Quote: Yep... Better action, better atmosphere, better characters, better acting, better (and more faithful to the original story) plot, better musical score, better cinematography (and FX)... I'm sure there's more, but that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.On 2010-10-26 22:43, Stanyon wrote:

I loved the first "Lost Boys" so much I even made an "old fart" shelf in my refrigerator, which I loaded up with "root beer and double thick oreo's." But man, "The Tribe..." that was just awful. Bad acting, bad story, special effects that weren't very special. Better nudity though. I'll give 'em that one.
