At MINDvention Patrick Redford demonstrated his new effect, "Voices". It is a modern twist on a classic Mentalism premise involving an audio prediction and a cellphone!
If you are a fan of Patrick's material then this is some strong thinking in a new direction! Paul

I have just read the booklet and I love this idea. I may have to add some "voices" to my seances.

I posted on another thread asking about audio predictions. How versatile is this? Where can I read more about it? Where can buy it? I tried to do a search with google but nothing came up.

Paul! My friend, thanks very much. It was great to see you in Vegas. It's been too long.
Jamie! It was great to meet you at Mindvention. You have some very clever ideas and I enjoyed the lecture very much. Tragic Geek - This was a Mindvention release and it hasn't officially hit the dealers yet and will only be available at a select few besides direct from me. It's very versatile and lends itself well to both close-up and stage work. Best of all it's great for those moments when you have nothing on you to perform except a cell phone. The booklet itself is a combination of both audio prediction techniques and creating EVP like voices on a cell phone or tape recorded prediction. The good news is, there are no gimmicks involved so you're always ready to go. I hope this answers your question the best I can in an open forum such as this one. -PGR |

This was the absolute hidden gem at MindVention!!
If you bought it, you're one of the lucky few who know what's going on, how clever it is and how effective! Rock on my friend! Col.

Yes. Excellent thinking from P. Redford on this. Uses technology effectively and invisibly to achieve a strong, direct effect.
Diabolical, in many ways. Glad he's working for us instead of against us. - entity

While I'm not particularly enamored with cell phone effects, or apps etc., Patrick's "Voices" is really good and is something I will use. I recommend it without reservation.
Well done, Patrick. (Say 'hi' to George.) Good thoughts, Bob Cassidy |

I was also lucky enough to pick this up at Mindvention. I feel that the method is very practical for real life performances. I can't wait to try this out. Thanks for releasing this Patrick.

This is my first review on the Café!
Despite the fact that this is a small booklet there is a lot of information packed in. I'll be reading and re-reading it. The booklet includes four effects and an addendum. Prophesy Voice This is what I, and probably most of you, bought the booklet for. An impossible seeming audio prediction that can be played to reveal anything, anywhere anytime. Redford explains how to use not only a cell phone but literally any kind of audio recording device to make the play back. I was a little skeptical at first until I tried it step-by-step with my cell phone in hand. The first run through was a bit choppy, but once I got the hang of the technique things ran very smoothly. This effect relies heavily on scripting to make the effect work. I've already played with developing my own script, but the supplied script will work fine for now. I like the idea of doing a confabulation with an audio prediction finale as explained in the addendum. Voices Interestingly, the title effect of the booklet isn't the audio prediction effect. I'm not sure why, but even still this is also an interesting concept. While I probably won't be trying this out as spirit voices and seances aren't my style this is a very interesting way to produce spirit voices on any recording without any special gimmicked equipment. Again, I haven't tried this, but I can't imagine it not working. I might have to give it a run next Halloween just for fun. Radio EVP This is a follow up to the Voices. While this doesn't seem like anything new, as it uses a special electronic device many of you will be familiar with (and I'd suspect your audience might catch onto as well if not handled properly). For my money, if I was doing this style effect, I'd think that producing spirit phenomenon on a borrowed cell phone or recorder or even one I brought with me would be much, much, stronger. This part of the booklet was the least interesting to me. Six Through Three This section explores a way to have a secret audio index allowing for a very clean sounding prediction of up to eight reveals using one mini tape recorder or six reveals using a cell phone. I haven't had much time to play with this yet either, but I would think it would be much easier to perform this with four reveals instead of the full six. I imagine a very clean looking equivoke style routine using the cell phone in this way with four different target objects being possible to help streamline the equivoke process. This will be something I play with more! Addendum Here Redford talks about using Prophesy Voice as an out much like one would use an invisible deck or a nail writer. This is certainly a very cool attribute of the system Redford describes! He also provides additional scripts for performing Prophesy Voice as a dressed prediction, a confabulation routine, and even an alternate script to what was provided in the first section. The last part of the booklet includes Dan Huffman's original Sony Seance which is surprisingly a very different method to what Redford describes under the Voices title. "Balls?" is Dan's original take on the audio prediction. The method is clever, but I don't see it being nearly as effective as what Redford describes as Prophesy Voice. I'll stick with Redford's method. It's great to see where these effects came from though. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and this will be an effect I use. If for no other reason than that it's always ready to go. I will also be playing this at my professional gigs as I have the perfect spot to make use of it. The whole thing is relatively easy to execute, but it will take practice to get the whole thing down smoothly. I think whether you're a walk around performer, a platform performer, or even if you only perform socially for friends and family... Redford's Voices is a win. If I were to use a five star rating system I would give it four out of five. -Rob |

Patrick showed me this effect in Mindvention, and it a cracking effect. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to never be caught without something to show. I always have my phone on me, and this is a great effect to do with it. A great effect from a true gentleman.

Alright - I don't see how anyone would love this trick. It's utter garbage and impractical. Don't buy this booklet.

I agree, don't you think people will find it weird that you just so happen to have a cell phone in your pocket? Do people even use cellphones? Next time create an effect that uses technology people actually use, whats next a betamax prediction? I hope the sarcasm came through.

Betamax! Now THAT would be one heck of a trick! Imagine reaching into your brief case and pulling out the play back machine, almost breaking the table setting it down, running the cords to the appropriate viewing device and playing back your prediction! Much more powerful!
