I really enjoyed this double set.
Instinct, the russian roulette nail routine, is excellent. And the drawing dupe looks great. P.S. The ACAAN trick seemed a little too obvious to me, but I'll try it on 'normals' and see if I can outwit them. Mello's previous download 'Technique' is fascinating! It fooled me. |

A lot of magicians like this set just because they don't know about reference of this tricks.
His russian roulette was an OLD idea. His add a no effect is an OLD idea. the ACAAN is a CAAN He is standing in the ideas of great thinkers in mentalism , and they deserve credits for all this effects in the set. He didn't give them and apparently all this ideas comes from Mr. Mello, but that isn't true. Lesson 1 : Before publish something, consult for crediting. Lesson 3 : don't use dishonest blurb. |

Out of interest, then, Eddie Baby, who first came up with Mello's version of the russian roulette trick? Do you know the precise antecedents?
I've been playing around with the Alakazam No Chance version. I didn't even notice the quirk that creates the conditions necessary for the Instinct version. And yet there it was in plain sight. Ha! I think you're a bit harsh on Matt. His 'Technique' method is also based on an 'old' idea, but so old and overlooked, that it's new again. |

Note to Canadians - Serial is difficult to do with Canadian bills, as our serial numbers are smaller (harder to read), AND... our serial numbers are at the very bottom of the bills (the newer US bills are all up at the top and very easy to read). I have been experimenting with the bill upside down, which would be easier if our serial numbers were larger.

Anyone know where I can get the straws from that Matt uses for "Coffee melt"? Im in the UK & the ones I ordered from Ebay are too brittle & therefore snap when performing the "Bend"
BTW great DVDs! |

Hey Mike,
I'd say go to your local super market and ask if they have any--they should be in the plastic plate, spoon, and fork aisle. I got a pack of 200 for like $2 or $3 at a local walmart. Matt |

Hi Matt....I'll check at our Wall mart here in the UK but they don't seem to have as much choice as the US Wall marts & unfortunatly its gonna be Sept 2nd when I'm next in the US!....Just a thought I will take a look on ebay.com as the stirrers I ordered were from ebay.co.uk

Matts method for a.c.a.a.n. can be awesome since you have the ability for the spectator to choose any card and any number and without saying A word to you and you will know the card. After the spectator shuffles the deck he will find his card at his number. This will leave them speechless.

I have only just watched the first Dvd,, but the first dvd is good, especially the CAAN may not fool every magician but I am sure will work great on lay people. Being from the UK I have a few issues with some of the effects , I love the lottery effect but are lottery has 6 numbers, I can get this to work but fear it may be a bit long winded , but il will test it out. Also as someone has stated there may be an issue with the coffee stirrers but iam sure I can fine an alternative. Again the serial derivation may not work with english money I courrently have no cash on me to check!
As for the Lack of credit I do not believe Matt would do this intentionally, it is a dvd of effects that he performs at no point does he make them out to be his own, a lot of the methods in these dvds are old principles, unfortunately it is only when they are put on such dvds that there true potential can be seen, which when read in a book gets pushed to one side, If you are looking for a dvd with new principles this may not be the one for you , but it is defiantly a great watch, I look forward to watching the second dvd when I get back to University. |

Have been catching up on my collection in my library (finally).
Matthew, I believe that if I can find ONE worthwhile item in a book or on a video/DVD then I have spent my money wisely. After looking through Volume 1, I found TWO items that I liked. Handy Prediction - It reminds me of Max Maven's Positive Negative, only it uses fingers instead of imaginary coins. Nice. Any Card At Any Number - Hmmmm I wouldn't call it ANY Card At Any Number but I don't think the audience would even care about the name of it. I've tried it out on some people (for my own sake) and it has received some good feedback so I'm satisfied. I also like the work you've done with the Lottery effect. Although it is similar to an effect I have been performing a long time now (albeit a much different presentation), I did like the way you changed things for choosing the digits. |
