Where did I get the danish cartoons from there? I mean they are relative to the discussion, but I don't know why I drew it from the post quoted.
It's amazing, people will criticize you for "biting the hand that feeds you," while they're busy praising the hand that beats them.

NOTS has quite a few dreamers

Is that some hip Canada thing? "North Of The States"?

Several posters (I think starting with Stoneunhinged) refer to this forum as NOTS. But your version is creative; well done.

John

What does it stand for then? Or is it not an acronym?

The forum is "NOT very magical, still" I think the suggestion was intended to parallel "Penny for your thoughts" which is often called PENNIES.

It's a bit funny (to me, anyways) to be a NOT. N'est-ce pas?

Found the NOTS thread. Looks like the orignal name came from Doug Higley.

I never mentioned the benevolence of rulers. And as far as believing in rights- who cares. Believing in them is meaningless unless you have a system in place that protects and upholds them.

I love it when people pick a word or phrase to focus on, completely ignoring the point.

You clearly concluded that, because I do not think government is necessary, I do not believe in "rights."
That is fallacious.

Also, where do you get the feeling I am not a nice person? Just because we don't agree on a particular subject?

I keep telling you WORDS MEAN THINGS. He can pick a word because you use it and it makes a certain point when you do. Just because you understand what you mean, does not mean anyone else does.

You do not think government is "necessary" but in order to protect your rights it IS!

Oh I know in GDW Utopia every citizen an afford private security and everyone just gets along and all the bad people live on an island where they never bother to build a cannoe to go harass the other people in the world. But in reality, not so much.

allow me to clarify. You may feel that you have a right to free speech. But without a system in place to uphold and protect it, it doesn't exist. And we know from the past that you don't agree with a society creating a system to govern themselves. Therefore, arguing that you should be able to say what you like in a theatre without consequence is nonsense.

Magicfish, I'm aware of what you are saying, but that is irrelevant to whether or not I was putting words in your mouth.
Also, I am not against people governing themselves at all. And there are plenty of ways to do it without a centralized monopoly on force.

Also, I think it should be clear that I was not arguing you should be able to yell whatever you want in a crowded theater without consequences.
