Hi Guys
I was just wondering what good finger ring and silk handkerchief magic is out there, as this is an area I'd like to explore. Please can someone point me in the right direction, Thanks |

David Roth has a nice one using a folding coin. It's a great penetration. It's on one of his DVDs and The WGM Finger Rings DVD.
Carl Cloutier had a nice vanish of a ring using the silk. It's in a set of his lecture notes, not sure if it's on one of his DVDs. I saw him do it at one of his lectures.

Bobo's Modern Coin Magic has a good routine with a handkerchief, ring and coin which segues right into two different copper silver transposition tricks. John Carney strung the two C/S tricks together on one of his new Master Sessions DVDs. I've done them both together for years.

Thanks for your suggestions so far guys, it's really appreciated.
I will definitly look into some of those effects, however I was also wondering if there are any effects that don't involve a coin (As I do a lot of coin work already, I really love coin magic) I'm thinking of the lines of penetrations etc? Any Ideas? Thanks Again |

My favorite impromptu effect of all time is a finger ring through handkerchief that I have never seen published anywhere. You place the ring on the tip of your finger and cover with the handkerchief/napkin, showing your other hand clean. Then you snap your finger and the ring visibly jumps through the cloth but still around your finger -- a spectator is invited to pull it off.
Someone will probably jump in and tell where it has been published -- it was shown to me back about 1958. PM me if necessary.

Vlad, you beat me to it. I knew I'd remembered seeing a Ring routine by Pete, although it doesn't use a silk.

You could be right -- I use thimble moves to conceal a ring after a vanish.

Hi,
I love Ring, Rope, & Pin, I learn it from Expert Impromptu Magic – Mullica vol. 1 ( http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/findit.pl?x_item=DV9102 ). It's impromptu trick where a ring, rope, and a safety pin are on a table covered with a handkerchief, then you ask the spectator to watch and make sure both ends of the rope always on sight while the magician doing something under the handkerchief, when finish the magician pull one of the rope end and show the ring has penetrate the rope locked with the safety pin. There is also a beautiful trick called "Night Passage" by a Japanese Magician, you can find the demo in Youtube. Jeff

Be sure to check out Skinner's "Ring on Wand/Stick" routine which is on DVD as a single routine. It's also known as Frank Sinatra's favorite magic trick since Skinner performed it for Sinatra in Vegas.
