Just Netflix-ed a marvelous movie “Howls’ Moving Castle” !
The applications for fantasy/theatrical magic are obvious, and inspiration for storytelling ripe. It’s a lushly animated film from Japan (Miyazaki.) Boasting a Voice-cast of A+ List American actors to die for, Christian Bale, Jean Simmons, Lauren Bacall, Billy Crystal, to name a few. “Howl’s Moving Castle” (from the book of the same name) is an enchanting magical fantasy, with one of the most intriguing fanciful plots I’ve seen, and a gorgeous, mostly waltz, music score. I was brought to tears a few times during the film and laughed out loud. If you like anime, acting, magic, love, heart, I highly recommend this! Magically, Walt |

I have to agree. It is inventive, sensitive, and all those other adjectives.
There are two others I am aware of just as inventive, though in different ways, each with its own sorts of possible contributions to this art: Princess Mononoke Spirited Away |

Here here!
Howl's Moving Castle was an incredible cinematic experience. Princess Mononoke was also quite moving. Another great is an Anime titled Metropolis. Quite powerful.

Spirited Away, is simply superb.
I have been a big fan of anime for a long time. The Japanese really know how to tell a good story through imagery. Cheers |

Since we are talking Netflix... I just watch one heck of a kung fu movie. I know, kung fu! LOL ... But, this movie is REALLY good.
It is called 'Ip Man' and based off of a real person. Check it out Ray |

Interesting, Ray, I may check it out, but the other movies here have some application to the inspiration of storytelling per the OP.
Does Ip Man apply in that sense? (I'm not trying to be snarky or facetious; I'm really interested.) |
