Most people in Western cultures (America anyway) avoid casual physical contact, even considering someone within two feet as “invading their space.” Two exceptions are “shaking hands” and “passing an object” from someone like a sales receipt or handing over money or credit card. Each is a wonderful opportunity to hone your empathic skills.
A handshake is easy but may have to be practiced like any other means of communication. There are books on the subject as to what different types of handskakes may convey to the other person. To that “style” you should always add the mental thought projection of appreciation and recognition rather than just a casual habit. Try thinking Namaste’ or “I see you” or “this is a day to remember.” However, avoid any thought with specific religious or sexual bias. For the “accidental” contact, reach out with your fingers to insure physical contact and project the same thoughts. The reactions to this telepathic contact are incredible, but I won’t share mine until others have a chance to share theirs or to try it. For both Conjurers and Mentalist I would suggest doing the same with all volunteers, assistants and chance contacts. The projection must be sincere – a deliberate communication of self rather than any attempt to impress or manipulate. Then wait before making any appraisal of the event – sometimes the feedback or recognition is delayed. You must “know” that the result will always be positive and it will be so.
