Exciting news! Derren Brown's latest stage production, 'Enigma,' directed by Andy Nyman, will be released on DVD in the UK on January 10.

I suspect it will not be available in the US any time soon, if at all, but the UK (PAL) version can be watched on a region-free DVD player (available at places like Amazon and Buy.com).

I was fortunate to see two performances of 'Enigma' when it played the West End about 18 months ago. He is such a fine actor (and you become so involved with his stories), I felt the need to see the performance a second time to have some idea of what was really going on! I have been waiting for the DVD ever since!!

He also posted on his blog somewhere that a cut down version would be shown on Channel 4 sometime in December. Also that there will be a box set of all his specials next January too.

I guess that's the 'Derren Brown Live Collection,' also scheduled for release on January 10. I couldn't find out very much about it.

At performances of 'Enigma' in London, black envelopes were place on various seats throughout the theater. They contained promotional cards for some 'new' shows by Derren on Channel 4. Maybe this DVD is a recording of those broadcasts.

The black cards on seats were for "The Events", the lottery, the casino etc,

Adam,

Thank you for your response! Do you think these 'Events' are related to the 'Live Collection' DVD?

The Live Collection is a collection of all the live show DVDs into one box set.

See Derren's Post here about it:
http://derrenbrown.co.uk/blog/2010/11/headsup-coming/

"Also, in January, I’m quite excited that they’re planning to release a box-set of the stage shows (at least the ones that made it to TV). So Something Wicked, And Evening of Wonders, and Enigma will be all nicely packaged up for your DVD delectation. Imagine! What larks."

Up in smoke,

I'll have to plan a trip to the West End (from Texas) when it gets there!

England is only a small country, you could fit England, Ireland, Scotland and wales into Texas nearly 3 times over. Try and make any of the shows, London is only few hours away Smile

I would expect to see the events on a DVD at sometime, have you seen them zgecko? I didn't really enjoy them, I think Derren said that he didn't really like doing them as tv shows but I would think they would make it on to a DVD

Adam,

Sorry to say I haven't seen any of the new broadcasts! Actually, I didn't know anything about them until you mentioned them.

Up in smoke,

Your point about the comparison of size between the UK and Texas is well taken. I go to London two or three times a year to see as much theatre as I can--typically fifteen to twenty productions per trip, including everything at the National Theatre.

Since Darren's last two shows have played the West End, I figure that 'Svengali' will do so too. (If it doesn't, I will attempt to see it elsewhere.)

There are a few tour dates up but more ARE to be announced (as far as I am aware)

You can get the Events on Youtube I think, but probably not if you are outside the UK, lots of Derren's stuff is on there and if you can access it all legally which is great for studying and learning from Smile

live shows and tv shows are on there

Adam,

I haven't watched all of the YouTube 'Events' videos yet, but there are several, each running about 6-10 minutes. (I did watch a third-party video which was an interesting explanation of the lottery prediction.) It would be interesting to know how long the broadcasts were; for example, did the 'lottery prediction' show also include other material?

Derren is captivating as always, a marvelous actor and entertainer!

Thank you for the lead on this.
