Well, now that the Search Engine is out of commission, I have to ask this question without finding out if it has been previously answered:

How does one audition to perform at the Magic Castle in Hollywood? I know that a DVD needs to be submitted to someone at the Castle, but does anyone know what the specific criteria are?

Max Maven used to be the person reviewing the DVDs, but I understand that someone named Goldfinger views the DVDs now?

Please, any advice on this?

Jack Vaughn Goldfinger (of Goldfinger and Dove) is the entertainment director at the castle now. I would send a note and a DVD to him at the castle. In-person auditions are only to become members (though you don't need to be a member to perform there.)

Thank you, Andrewzuber.

Do you happen to know how long the DVD needs to be?

That part I'm not entirely sure of. I wouldn't make it too long, but I'd merely be guessing. I would suggest 5-10 minutes...too much more might be excessive. I would wait and see what other people suggest though also.

Let me clarify that I am a Magician member of the Magic Castle, having passed the performing audition years ago.

I have unfortunately allowed my Magician membership to lapse in recent years.

I am asking about performing in one of the three main rooms: Close Up, Parlor, or Stage.

The castle is asking for DVDs? Do you still have to actually perform live for them to join?

I ask because if a sufficiently polished routine on DVD is all it takes Id consider trying to join long distance...

BUt I can certainly understand if they want to see you live.

To join you must audition in person. The DVDs are only for those that wish to perform there.

Cyberqat-
There are two kinds of membership: Magician and Associate. You can join as an out-of-state member for a reduced rate.

See the site or give em a call

Bato, your avatar is horrific, yet wonderful. I find myself attracted and repulsed at the same time. Brilliant!!!
