Personally I think it's wrong to find a video you like from someone else's performance and go method hunting.
I sincerely hope that others on this board don't start blabbering out their theories here just to act like they are in the know. -rob |

I am attracted to effects/demonstrations in which the assitant is the hero rather than the performer. Is this a trend in mentalism today, or a reversion to yesteryear when presentations were more simple and touched with "authenticity?"

One part of it 'has to be' pre-show. The other way buy what some call a 'r-ll t--le' And the other by chance which either works, and that's good, or doesn't work and that's just as good, since in mentalism we NEED to get misses every so often to suggest the absence of trickery.
That pre-show part can be done in several ways. However, since Richard Madely is one of life's pure somnambulists we can assume that there's a fair chance the other fellow is also. Indeed if you listen to his language it very much suggests that to be the case. In that case, the hardest part of the presentation would be the simplest. In an open forum I wouldn't wish to say any more but it's all very do-able. However I do love DB's presentations. He is extremely on top of everything. regards, Bob

Psychological forces and preshow-work may have been weapons of choice..
